If you read between the lines, most likely two Jucos have given their commitments. These may not be NLIs as only one is allowable per player and they may have given same coming out of HS.
What is much more interesting, is that one is rumored to be from Florida. This may not be a fall back as heavy rumors around the MAAC tournament indicated a JC from FL was almost certain, but the school he attended was not readily known or erroneously known. Until the names come out and the kid known, he just may have been a prime target for the late signing period and was considered an instant contributor.
The other kid who has been mentioned was not highly recruited out of High School despite being 6'8".

I don't look upon signing JUCO's as a fall back position. I consider it taking care of an immediate need. To me it's a no brainier. Also, I don't feel the results are disappointing to date, or on paper since we have no results to date, therefore nothing is on paper. Lamina Fulton may appear to be undersized at 5'9", but so was Kee Kee Clark.

If Teal, we certainly have one that appropriately suits the "under the radar" cliche'. Just off with someone who knows something about Florida ballers and when the customary inquiry into Markee's ability was made, the response was.......Who's Teal?
Hope this stealth candidate is more than unadvertised. Certainly does not appear to have strong stats for a poor team in a so-so communtiy school conference. Had not heard his name before but maybe, if Teal, he is the lesser of the two JC's reputed to be aboard.

Eport...agree entirely. Our need was immediate help. In fact, judging by other teams in the league bringing in transfers and/or JC players is normal and helps keeps teams competitive. Danger is over doing it but iuf you pick your spots and fill your needs it's smart...not fall back.
Regarding Fulton, none of us have seen him play but if the Jay Wright quote and appraisal on him is accurate, we have quite a player.

Teal does not match the specifics of the sure target from early March. That one was suppose to be a Metro native who went down south. Problem is that the first school people thought he was at, also did not have a Metro native of size and was led by a guard that was suppose to be a sure thing for us coming out of HS.
On the bright side, they do have some size and weight, and if they play some agressive body ball we could be OK. Another bright note is that both rumors shoot the free throw pretty well.

It appears all our collective knowledge and intuitiveness has yielded two facts.
1. We have two JC's committed.
2. We know little of their talent level or, for that matter, who they even are.

Except names have been applied to them by both the knowing and the unknowing. In addition you should be familiar with one of the names from down your way.

Hopefully the cone of silence will be penetrated next week. :>) Speaking of our anonymous newbies' free throw percentages..... After watching our guys clang FT's all year (poorest in MAAC) and seeing Brandon Hall set an NCAA record for total iron drawn on two made FT's, the squad shoots 84% from the line in the Tournament! Need I mention the 11-11 performance in the Title Game....and 9-9 in the last 150 seconds? Wow.

Anyone else a little quesy watching Ferguson's "highlight" reel? Of course we have to give the staff the benefit of the doubt and they have forgotten more than I know about hoops, but the level of athletes in the video reminded me of an intramural league. Just sayin'. Anyway, we'll find out soon enough either via Summer League results (Belin's marked improvement was "tipped" there) or via direct observation once Oldtimer sees him in the gym.

As to Ferguson Lincoln Trail is a div 1 Juco. He averaged over 16ppg about 6 rpg and shot 55% from the floor and 70% free throw line. I'm told he has committed. As to the Florida player he visited last weekend. Told he was 6-7 with similar skills to Jeron Belin but who knows. I think they consider him the higher level of the two players. Don't know about any committment but told his visit went very well.

Thanks for the additional info on Ferguson. Again, maybe Ryan Bacon spoiled me with his athleticism. I sure hope Ferguson can help Conley inside and get the ball for our (on paper) pretty talented guard rotation. If we land two solid (if not spectacular) front line players this late in the process, I will be happy. Off topic.....King Rice hired two guys with North Carolina roots and no apparent Northeast connection to be his assistants at Monmouth. Can't help but think Dunne/Guild would have been a better fit for the Hawks. Guess we'll see in a few years.

It is my understanding that Dunne's salary bump took Monmouth and Manhattan right off the table.

Except names have been applied to them by both the knowing and the unknowing. In addition you should be familiar with one of the names from down your way. The Ferguson name has been well advertised and is hopefully the lesser of what we speak. What is muddling, at least from my view, is that the remaining has taken on more than one name. Teal, my local, or the New York kid would seem to be the other, none of which excite by my read. Perhaps you might wish to offer, since I don't know of any Florida connection that meets the standard of impact recruit.

At least we know Markee Teal is athletic. See #84. Good speed.
