figgy, no problem! but how could he be indecisive with the ball given all the assists Blaise has this year? Especially on this team where assists are hard to come by. I also like the pull up jumper you suggest but it's not easy when you are in the middle of trees.
My point was that Blaise did not play well last night...agreed! But neither did a host of others and if you look at the stat line...more assists than turnovers, 4 steals and 6 rebounds....pretty good.
Finally, I agree that Blaise was indecisive last year. Sort of afraid to make a mistake and be pulled. This year he has no such fear as JD has given him the ball and even made him Captain. Think that's the difference. Like any MAAC level player Blaise has flaws but given his ball handling, rebounding, defense and assist ability (on this team!) he's as good as any point in the league...and I posted that before the season.
Looking forward to seeing you next Sunday.

Almost a day later and still frustrated by that home loss last night . Our guys did not play well but for me this L belongs to the staff . We got beat by a very limited team ( let me emphasize that is when they are without Beamon and Alvarado ) . We got beat by a team on which a first year point who is 5'11 was allowed to play 35 minutes in his comfort zone . We should have won this game on the defensive end pure and simple . No effort to take advantage of his weaknesses with pressure , full or half court . When we were in the half court zone , very little of the time , if any , was Chris or Yvon or Chazz at the top of that zone against a little and inexperienced point . For me , you take the opposition's point out of his comfort zone , particularly when he is leading a limited team , and you win a game even when you are struggling . But I guess it wasn't in the game plan to even take a shot at it .

I think most of us share the believe that our record should be better than 6-7 since we lost very winable games to "weaker" teams Binghamton, FDU, Loyola Chi, and last night's undermanned Jasper team. However, let's not forget that other than the 13 point win against LIU, our other five wins have been by a COMBINED 15 points, meaning we could easily be sitting at 3-10 too. The MAAC schedule lightens up a bit after tomorrow so the team needs to find a way to take advantage if we want to avoid the PIG.

Hard to get lighter than Manhattan. NU beats FF. Marist beat MC only minus Beamon. Even Siena took Iona to the wire. There are no lights in this tunnel.

Fair point Peacock. I'm not saying SP should win or will win against any of those teams you mention, as we've pretty much shown we can win or lose to any MAAC team on a given night. I'm sure most other MAAC teams (and especially fans) still view us as a "light" team on their schedule and with the performance against Manhattan, they may be correct to do so. My main point was that if we are going to avoid the PIG, we need to beat the likes of Marist, Siena, and Rider to have a chance.
I remember the team with Wes, Nick, and Bacon getting blown out by a bad Manhattan team a few years ago and that game serving as a spark that got the team going. The fan in me hopes this team reacts the same way, but the realistic observer in me realizes this year's team has a lot more holes in it. We'll see what happens...

Jajk i would like to agree with your analysis on what game plan should have been used with a freshman PG and if a coach is not aware before game time it does not take alot especially for a team that plays Man to make an adjustment. Like Hurley and Boyle and a number of high school coaches thats the first thing they teach their guards on defense is to go after the PG and God forbid he cant deal with pressure look at some of their scores the same with the Patrick School currently defense. "Destroy the Head and the body will follow" Brawn and no brain gets u very little. In JD defense in those types of situation u can loose sight of the kids effects on the game and end up trying to figure out whats going to get your team going. But still pressure should always be applied to the head. Just a comment on Blaise he is having a fantastic year and you can tell that he is finally relaxed at the posistion which really allows him to play his game, most of his assist have come from Desi and Yvon decision making does come a little bit more difficult when your primary engines Are being shut down or should I say constantly hounded on defense, thats why it is important that the inside game be established early without that you will win some but the odds are usually against you. One thing that needs to be determined is a concrete back-up PG to help Blaise out a lack of could end up biting this team in the rear
