Trevis hitting his shots and keeping us within 12 or so. His hard work has really paid off this season.

Despite the obvious objections forthcoming, our offense throughout the last ten years has been pretty predictable and non innovative. In a single word, vanilla and dependent more on a hot night than on planning. Figgy had a decent comment that nobody seemed to comment on its insight. Not only our offense that's been predictable over the past 10 years.

Down 14 at the half.
Big picture; we have 27 points against a poor defensive club, primarily due to having rather limited scoring options. When no one on the front line can hit a jump shot or pass well, it catches up with you. :-(
Only Wyche and Boone kept this from being a complete blowout so far. If the D tightens up, we can make a run, but the points are going to have to come from somewhere....

Playing with more energy, but still down 11.
We are getting easy entry passes inside, really have done so all night, but are not converting the opportunities.
We've been well scouted in the Conference; Wyche and Portley are the primary targets of opposing defenses.

This goes back to the Seton Hall game when I stated that we are not physical and aggressive enough. We do not get 50/50 balls. Q cant finish in the paint, Portley cant find shots on his own and we are just getting out worked. If there is a run to be made, it will come due to Iona not having any discipline or maintaining focus or intensity

Still has a feel we can make a run.

Chazz had a wide open, set three to bring us within 6, but missed it.
Iona playing sloppy this half, as poster above indicates.

Never in it, but Trevis and Boone are giving 110%. Kudos to them.

Last 15 minutes were garbage time. Iona wins by 8.
Tireless effort by Boone and Trevis. Was happy to see Boone do well, he tries very hard when he gets his minutes. EB's height limits his effectiveness up front on most nights. In a wild, helter-skelter game, we saw tonight what he is capable of.
Portley did not have a good shooting game when he was open, but he wasn't open much. MAAC clubs are overplaying the ball and forcing our front line to beat them. Good MAAC clubs are deploying that strategy very effectively.
Man, could this roster use a (second half of his senior season) Jeron Belin....an impact scorer up front who can finish. What a difference that would make for us offensively.
Well, the silver lining of this stretch is we know exactly where the roster needs to improve next season.
On to Siena.

Washington 12 points , 8 rebounds , 0 assists , 2 blocks , 4 TOs Quadir 19 points , 7 rebounds , 2 assists , 2 blocks , 2 TOs
Gaels proved me wrong with two wins . But still believe they are not significantly more talented than us . Great to see Elisha with tremendous hustle and some solid play .

Is Idowu injured ? Sad to say but with Elias seemingly having totally lost confidence in his game , we would be really short upfront .

Good news on avoiding four games in T - Q beats FF , one of our closest rivals in that race . Bad news is Q playing better and we have two left with them including that one on the road the day after the Jaspers . Finishing four or five still in our control , and would look a lot brighter with win against Siena .

Scary thing is Iona actually outplayed us on defense in three of the four halves we played against them this year.
There's a lot of potenital talent on our team and considering we should have everyone except Elias for next year, this season has been an overall positive so far. But this past week was a wake up call for us fans that we are an above average MAAC team but don't belong in the discussion of the elite teams just yet. As a matter of fact, we have a lot of work to do to avoid the play in game. If anyone thinks we have as much talent (not potential, actual proven talent) as Monmouth and Iona they are mistaken.
