junctionkid....Just to let you know, I resent the cheap shots that you took at me...." or do we have to be afraid we are going to be upset one of the coaching fraternity who has no problems whatsoever talking negatively about our hoop guys or his own golfers at times." Liar
Let's deal with the above first. Regarding golf, I like to think that my team is the closet knit team in the MACC or anywhere for that matter. Our parents are absolutely great. True of this years team and the one prior. I'm proud of their accomplishments both in season and during the Summer Tournament season. As a coach I'm the type to pat my players on the back and rarely criticize. However, no coach worth his salt should never be afraid of speaking to players about what they need to do to improve. You obviously don't understand the difference between constructive criticism and bad mouthing. Finally, I do remember quite well that when we won the MAAC Championship last year that you were the only person on this board who did not offer congratulation. Didn't bother me as I just assumed you harbored ill feelings when I took objection to one of your "over the top posts"
Certainly you have the right to criticize anything but others also have the right to present another point of view contrary to yours. When someone does that you seem always seem offended.
1) You did put our looses clearly on the Coaches shoulders. Again that's your point of view to which you are entitled. If you bothered to read my post, instead of reinterpreting it to your benefit, you would have read that any coach worth his salt takes personal blame for any loss. If you knew JD as a coach and person he's that type of guy. He talks in terms of we (meaning team), not those guys. I really don't care what you think of him as a coach but you clearly put the blame solely on him without giving anywhere near a balanced view. I tried to point out the obvious statistics for both games showing and how putrid our shooting performance was. And that part of the equation is on the players. To me it was shared losses and everybody needs to step it up. Try reading my post not reintrepreting it.
2) Next it may surprise you that I agree with your analysis of JD's initial substitution patterns. Next to Cindy (who is in a class by himself as a St. Peter's fan) I've attended more SP games than anyone ( spcfan, figgy and loyal are also great ). I picked up several years ago that JD, like clockwork , substitutes at the 16:00 minute mark of the fiest half. Does it with this team and with the Wes/Ryan/Nick team. Not my style and I guess he has his reasons but I'm not the Coach. If I were I'd probably stay with the hot hand but again I'm not the Coach, nor are you.
3) Regarding Jamel/Trevis. Forgetting about your long diatribe about what a great kid Jamel is ( and he is) you imply that Wyche is our QB and there is a significant drop off when Jamel comes it. Last year, I can tell you there were times that Trevis wasn't getting the job done, Jamel came in and gave the team a greater contribution than Trevis had that particular night. That's what backups do! None of this to imply that Trevis is not the guy who is to lead this team. That said, you may have noted that several on this Board have legitimately criticized some of Trevis' shortcomings, namely shooting and possibly defense ( Jamel is the better defender ). For mysef, I understand the criticism but IMO opinion Trevis brings so many other things to the table, such as leadership, that his pluses far outweigh any negatives. Mark me down as a Trevis fan who also. However, like the others , needs to step up their games this year. It's very, very early and I remain positive. Finally, you may want to know that JD is a big Trevis fan. He too is hoping for a great Sophomore year.
4) Next, again stop reinterpreting my comments. I have repeatedly said that in order to be a contender this year we need two things to happen....#1 for Q to be the dominant player that he is capable of becoming and that we find a scoring threat at #3. That doesn't mean, as you erronously posted that I think our other players are not that good...bs posting. In my opinion Dominique is the best player in the league, that Desi would be an asset for any team and that Trevis is among the better guards in the league. So please don't twist a positive but realistic analysis into something I never said or meant. Too easy to create a paper tiger to attack.
5) Finally, to answer your query/ criticism about not using Travis. Check the first game box score ( and no one should be judged on one game ) but in 11 minutes Travis was 1/5 from the three and did little else. Chazz in 14 minutes went 2/5, 1/2 from the three with 4 rebounds...not bad for a backup! So coach junctionkid who would you give the playing time to in the following game. FYI I view JD as pretty flexible as to playing time. In fact, I know that initially Chazz was pretty low on the depth chart (behind Dennis) but apparently his play pre-season gave him this opportunity. Will it stay that way and will Dennis see action...who knows. Above my pay grade and yours.
" talking negatively about our hoop guys or his own golfers at times"....you owe me an apology for both untruths
