Shot 49% from three,at 6'5" could be the wing we've been looking for. Shot 59% from the line...should fit in.

Based on his You Tube video clip (I know) TG looks like just what the doctor ordered.

Just to add my customary dampener. Through 9 games this year shooting under 30% from 3, and less than 50 % from the charity stripe. A catch and shoot perimeter type who does not attack off the dribble. Oddly, only averaging about 7 points despite serious minutes. Unknown on the defensive side.
#1 Juco prospect still out there but looking less likely as time extends. CIty wing remains in the mix but still no progress in the search for size. Now 2 to give with the balance tilted to next years Junior class.

Next years' roster didn't have a forward who can shoot from deep. Welton, Dominique definitely look like inside players. Tucker has a 12 footer, but is usually more effective inside. Patterson, Desi, Fields and Wyche look like the guard rotation......TG will likely compete with Chris Burke for small forward time. I have no idea how good the comp is, but it is D 1 JUCO.

Evidently, during a visit to UAB last summer, Gaskins said he was " waiting to hear from UConn".
Now, that may be analogous to me "waiting to hear from Scarlett Johansson".....
.....but the UAB Board seemed to hope they signed him.
No guarantees, obviously, but somewhat promising.

It is a D1 JUCO.Pretty strong league actually sending some players to SEC programs. Gaskins is not as highly rated as other JUCO we are pursuing who is also a 2 guard/wing but smaller at 6-3.Tha other player in question averaged 17 pts a game in JUCO last year as a frosh and was all state in Florida class 5A in high school where he played for a public school power that went to a state final. Gaskins played at New Mexico Military last year where he averaged 9.9 pts a game playing about 14 minutes a game.He shot 48% from the floor and 48% from three taking half his shots from three point land. On the negative side shot 59.4 percent free throws(should blend right in at SPU)and 2.5 rebounds per game. Transferred to Lawson State in Birmingham i assume to be closer to home. He's from the Atlanta area and played high school ball in nearby Buford.I also think he played a year of prep before JUCO at TPA Academy in Tampa Florida. That leaves us with 2 spots to give.I'd like either the other JUCO target above or the other wing who is 6-5 as well but a very good player originally from Brooklyn now playing prep school ball in New England. Would love to get him but main competition appears to be Hofstra and Manhattan so it may be a tough pull but Hofstra is in a lot of turmoil and Manhattan may be full at his spot. Have to hope we land one more big with last spot if we land one of the other two targets. It could wind up being a one year transfer late similar to Jackson if no one else available to us.Pure speculation on my part on that route but would seem logical if no other big in the picture.

Trying to be kind but scuttle is that Gaskins has not given much attention to academics in the past. Hope this has changed. Otherwise, a DNA profile that suggests a match with the qualifications sought by Messrs. Cluess, Grasso.
Very odd that the kid has shot as good from 3 as from the foul line.

JD has not previously taken academic risks who were transfers/JUCOs....has been patient academically and rolled the dice with Conley, Tucker, etc. as true frosh, but Belin, Fergie, etc. do not appear to have been academic "reaches". Agree a Prep school plus two JUCOs in three years does not exude a yearning for academia, but have to trust the staff has vetted this kid.

Very odd that the kid has shot as good from 3 as from the foul line. Perhaps he suffers from farsightedness. Or just wants to be "one of the guys."

Today'e Post on the wing recruit in Prep School:
Many of the players the Pride have zeroed in on — such as Brooklyn wing Richard Williams of Vermont Academy and Jaaron Simmons, an elite point guard from Archbishop Alter in Ohio — told The Post the burglary mess has not changed their minds about the program in the least.
The 6-foot-4 Williams, who holds a series of mid-major offers, said Hofstra is “definitely a school I can see myself going to.”
“I know the coaching staff are good people,” Williams said. “They’re all about doing the right things.”
