Amby Fall from Wings in NY has qualified academically. He not only was on our list but per recruit-recon we made an offer. Originally announced he was going Prep, now is open in his recruitment. Visiting Radford today. Fits our front court need and was known as the best shot blocker in the City. Not sure where we are here, but does provide speculation for the masses.

Amdy Fall is no longer Recruit Recon's SPC list...I have no idea what that means.

Oooops. Fall is on SPC's Recruit Recon list, but as a 2012 recruit.

From most accounts would appear to be a sound pick up for us. A bit undisciplined but said to have big upside. Surprised he qualified. Maybe, with many of the higher roster's filled, and others perhaps not willing to chase to make room for a potential, we get lucky.

"Wings forward Amdy Fall enjoyed his visit to Radford, plans on taking visits to Wagner and St. Peter's as well. FDU is also in the mix."

And one we talked about last year.
"6-foot-2 former St. Benedict's star Xavier Mumford is moving on to a new school for this season. Mumford spent the past season at Miami Dade JC in Florida.
Mumford has transferred to Iowa Western JC for this season. He had an excellent freshman campaign in the Sunshine State, averaging 17.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 2.4 apg. He shot an impressive 39% (72-184) from 3-point range this year."

The origin of the Fall report was posted on June 25 on a recruiting site.
"Amdy Fall, a shot-blocking power forward from Wings Academy, has recently been qualified academically for 2011. Since then, Fall has taken an official to Radford University and a visit to St. Peter’s is on the verge of being established. The 6’7 forward has “no favorites” is still wide-open in his recruitment."
No mention about Wagner or FDU. Funny thing about Wagner is that have comiiteed 14 ships if you believe their most recent news report. Not sure where there is room.

Also, Wagner is loaded with Fall look alikes. Would get immediate time at FDU. If these are his choices, look for Radford if he wants to travel, or us if he sees the MAAC as a better league.
Whatever happened with Parks of Campus Magnet?

Transcript issues. Assume he is a 12 target.

If he is as solid as advertised, Fall could get plenty of time this year up front for the Peacocks, battling Ferguson (gulp!) and Hill (gulp!) for the spot opposite Conley on the front line. If AF is anything remotely resembling "the best shot blocker in NYC", he can fill a gaping hole in the current roster......an inside defensive presence and solid rebounder. Ideally, AF can learn on the job this year and be ready to really contribute the following season, when SPC can again realistically aim for a "top 2/3" finish in the MAAC. Has anyone seen him play? Any highlight clips? This seems like a winnable recruiting battle, but, who knows?

Should have also mentioned Marist who was in early. Even though qualified, Red Foxes not going as hard here. Might be Martin's past history with some "marginals" or kid looking elsewhere, given tenuous standing and history of coaching staff. No doubt he would fill a need in Po'town.

Names mentioned were only those that the bloggers got and in one case from the kid. Don't know if Marist is filled up. We do have an open ship. It does not look like Wagner does and would have to check out Marist.
Considering all the attribute written about Fall, we actually might have the best fit. Not due to need necessarily, but style of play and the defensive orientation of Dunne. Kid apparently relishes playing defense.

Marist is open, Wagner looks filled but little matters these days as many still are awaiting final transcripts or scores. Add that, for the right prospect, most schools today do not even have to search for a ship but rather, declare that the kid will pay for his first year. Hate to be the erstwhile cynic but most are generally classed as hardship and pay very little to begin. Some also fortuitously discover a good paying summer job, or a close relative suddenly comes forth with some new found cash.
Agree also that Fall would make a good fit. Limited offensively, no shooting range, but would likely bask in his role as a defensive intimidator. Fall, mixed with the tandem of Conley and hopefully Ferguson would allow us some versatility, similar to last year but lacking the firepower of a Belin. If Samuels continues to improve, Prescott meets expectations, and Hall acts as the stabilizer, we could be a respectable mid-pack contender. Raymond, Hill, Burke and our newbie, Fulton, will also need to give us some capable minutes. Although any would be a plus, I will not count on Ffrench or Costner (injury?) to give us much contribution.
