At Logan, the tournament is officially called the World Vision Invitational Sponsored by Gossner Foods. Last years participants were Troy, Western Michigan, Idaho State and Utah State, which crushed all the other teams and won the tournament. This year it's SPC, Kent State,Utah State and a TBA. The tournament is nothing spectacular, basically all mid-major schools. But, it is an opportunity to showcase SPC in a geography where we never play. Looks like our out-of-conference schedule doesn't have too many cream-puffs.

I have a vague recollection of the Peacocks going out west years ago, I think to Montana, as the designated cream puff only to win the tournament. Does anybody have a better memory of that?

Yes, I do recall SPC winning the tournament...but back in the 90s I think. Also. we are not on Minnesota's OOC schedule.....Fairfield is.....was there a change?

I think we beat Bama in '95-'96, during the post-1995 MAAC Title, "Underachievement Season", to win the Montana Tourney. Also beat SHU early that year when Danny Hurley missed a 5 foot floater at the buzzer at the Meadowlands. It all fell apart beginning with the televised loss to Niagara during the "Blizzard of 96" one Sunday afternoon. No such sad memories this past March! Only clutch FT's, iron clad defense and Belin raining 3's in the Final. (sigh)

actually won Montana tourney twice. Played Utah St many years ago I believe on a western trip. Perhaps enroute to a tournament like the Rainbow Classic. I'd need to look it up.

We did win the Montana tourney twice under Fiore figgy as you point out. As to the win over Alabama that was in the Wichita State tourney which we won when we defeated the host shockers in the finals. That was over Christmas in 95-96 year before the implosion started. My recall though scanty these days is a big loss at Utah State on way out to the Rainbow Classic in perhaps 69-70 under Kennedy. High scoring 20 point loss i think.

It was the 1974-75 season under McDonald. We lost o Utah 100-83 on way to Rainbow classic. Do not think we have played Utah State

SPC played Utah State in 1968-1969 and 1969-1970. We beat them in the Armory. We are 1-1 vs the Utah State Aggies!
GO PEACOCKS!

Hey guys - came over looking to see what you might have for a schedule next year and saw that you're heading out to Utah State. I was out there last November (Northeastern game over Thanksgiving weekend), and it's a great area. Great views, nice looking campus, friendly people, cool little downtown area in Logan. For anyone that wants to go out there, I recommend the Spring Hill Suites - it's a couple miles away, but not a bad drive (once you get there from Salt Lake City) and a real nice hotel.
