Glover and Machado make first team and Wes is lonely rep of your defending MAAC champions on third team .
Think for a second that a lonely third teamer handled a squad with two first teamers when all the chips were on the table . Three possibilities arise quickly .
Basketball is a team game , and the balance of Iona's team was just awful .
Dunne is a magician and Iona's coach is a disaster .
The third possibility is the most acceptable . These voters' knowledge of metro hoops is laughable . Wes deserved second team given how he came back against the odds this season . But much worse is naming two Gael guys as first teamers among all the metro teams .

Glover was the best player in the MAAC, hands down. Singlehandedly kept Iona close in the Final. He certainly deserved the honor. Machado was the best PG in the MAAC. He abused SPC regularly over two seasons, before Samuels "D" forced him into a tough shooting night. The inablility of Iona's wing players to throw the ball in ocean minimized his assist total.....in the Final. Agree Wes deserved 2nd vs. 3rd Team, but am sure he'll happily take the "ring" instead. For what it's worth (nothing), Cluess screwed up big time by not pressing SPC prior to "desperation time". I could not believe what I was watching; no press is effective for 40 minutes, granted, but any quickened pace likely would have been to Iona's advantage. Mike "we'll have the Iona coach on tomorrow" Francesa's Monday statement was followed by his scalding comments about the players "not being worthy" Tuesday. Don't know what game Francesa was watching, but Cluess did no favors for Iona on that glorious night of March 7th. Gaels + Stags next season will be best 1/2 punch the MAAC has ever had, IMO. Back to my recruiting vigil.
