that we haven't heard from JD about his plans for the future. I think that, if he was contemplating staying on the Boulevard next year, he would have said something if only in the interest of recruiting. It may be that he's telling that to his recruiting targets and that he doesn't think that public announcement is necessary. I hope so.
If he's been offered something worth while, God bless him, and go already so that SPC can get on with things.
If he's just waiting for an offer, God help him, because if nothing materializes, he'll be back at SPC with another sub-standard front line and perhaps another 6 win season.

I guess the optimistic view would be your second thought that he has no plans to leave so he has no need to make any comment to anyone other than Fulton and whatever recruits we are targeting. The only mention of him leaving is for Monmouth (where he's not the favorite) and for Manhattan from Zags Blog in the other thread. Maybe I'm just hoping, but I don't see him leaving SPC for another MAAC school.

Unless I'm misunderstanding some of the points made above we may have things a bit backward. There is no need or is there any significance to the fact that JD has not said anything at this time. He is still the Coach at SPC and is undoubtedly looking at other opportunities. He will submit his application(s) and interview along with other potential hirees.
If and when an offer is made, he will make a decision. Meanwhile JD is functioning every day as is his staff as the Head Coach of SPC basketball. Did not Pat Elliott do the same when he interviewed and was a finalist for the AD job at Seton Hall several weeks ago?
I would expect that all this will sort itself out within the next few weeks. Monmouth has a ton of worthy applicants. However, they have publically stated that a decision will be made by April 1st. I agree (with no inside knowledge) that leaving for another MAAC school is highly doubtful at best. I know something about the Manhattan situation and they are a bit behind the curve in interviewing...BR contract was bought out by a wealthy alumni and while Burns will interview, the final decision will be over his head.
Think we all want JD to stay. Excellent Coach who represents SPC in a way that makes us all proud. Same with Pat Elliott. We hit two home runs with those guys. But life goes on and if JD leaves, it will be a setback. IMO the more important question is how does our President (and he had a lot of photo op's) and the Board of Trustees now view Athletics and how much are they now willing to commit to building on the recent events.
Right now, I'm just waiting like everyone to see how everything plays out.

Billet was the early favorite for Monmouth due to his past connections and local flavor. Last word is that Inglesby of N.D. is being given strong consideration. J.D. a long shot. Monmouth is looking to get this done before April 15th.
Doubt any MAAC coaches will be changing jobs within the Conference. Unwritten rule would likely prevent, unless agreed upon in advance by respective schools. Comical to hear talk of Mihalick to Fairfield or even John to Manhattan. Roberts a strong possibility at FF although Asst., Simon, making a good push. Lot's of possibilities at Manhattan. My guess is Masiello, but will depend on how much Pitino has to say.

I wouldn't expect JD to come out with any statement on his own unless asked the question by some member of the media. Even if that were the case, the statement, regardless of JD's intentions, would be something along the lines of "I'm the coach at SPC and can't wait to defend our MAAC title next year."

Absolutely, peacockblue...that is exactly what JD would say. Sludge, my apologies, the "Hawk" did say that Monmouth would complete interviews by April 1st but make a decision bny April 15th. You are correct.

Despite the upgrade in pay and facilities a move to Monmouth doesn't really make sense career wise for JD .The NEC rarely is a move up conference for coaches except for Mike Rice last year and he wasn't Rutgers first choice after a great tournamnent appearance vs Nova. Let's not forget Rice was an assistant at pitt with Big East experience under Dixon at Pitt before he got the job at RMU across town. MAAC has traditionally been a move up league Cooley the latest example. If he were to go to Monmouth and not dominate in the league next step after that might be out of coaching. I know this is john's moment having just won the league but he is generally very well thought of in the media ( see Rothstein and Zags blogs respectively). I think he could do better than Monmouth. Historically MAAC coaches who are succesfull move up not down in conference. NEC is far lower than the MAAC in conference RPI
