Love the fact that Boilermakers are on our message board. Makes our board more interesting.
As SPC fans, we are used to people looking past us. Before our conference tournament, the Fairfield, Iona, and Siena message boards didn't even consider SPC as a threat. Well, we beat them all, rather convincingly. Another thing to remember is that for most of the first half of the season, we played without two of our starters, Jenkins (torn knee ligaments) and Bacon (ankle) and we were still competitive - even beat Alabama, and had the lead in the Rutgers and ODU games until the final minutes. And yes, we've had our clunker games (Robert Morris and Lehigh).
The odds are that we will lose on Friday - Purdue is bigger and deeper than SPC and that can wear us out. But, I think that we'll give the Boilermakers a hell of a game.

If the original post was meant to be sarcastic, it was not very clear. He backed up his comment with his reasoning. Anyway, the team that can't afford to sleep is Purdue. After our last two games, anyone sleeping will have Painter's foot where they don't want it.
I am a fan of the MAAC as well. I attended a couple Siena hoops camps back in the early 90's. If you guys weren't playing Purdue, I would be cheering for you.
I was at the 4 1st round games in Albany back in 1995. That had to be the best 4 games ever played at one site in NCAA history. SPC playing toe to toe with UMASS for 30 minutes, ODU knocking off Kerry Kittles and comany, and the other two games were down to the wire as well.
More because of the ugliness of Purdue's last two games than anything else, but I expected Purdue to come out and destroy any team that they threw at us on Friday.
Purdue 70 SPC 50
Enjoy the games boys.....

We respect Purdue and we respect the state of Indiana's long and rich basketball tradition . Before I posted that you were a solid team with two very good players , I read many posts on your board talking about winning this game by 30 or 40 or those posts that assumed this game as a win and started discussing your next game or your final four prospects . I would never go on your board to counter your fans' realistic , or not , assumptions . But a few things since you are now on our board telling us our guys are outmatched . We beat Alabama without our best player . But Alabama is only one game . We had two shots to go ahead of ODU - considered by many the best rebounding team in the country - with three minutes to go , again without our best player .. We were 12 points ahead of a Mike Rice coached Rutgers team with 10 minutes to go without our two best players . And RU played very competively in the BE , a conference that I'll dare say is a tad stronger than the Big Ten . In our conference tourney , we held #1 seed Fairfield to 15 in the first half and high scoring Iona to 20 in the first 20 minutes . Iona and Fairfield are very good teams , teams that I dare say would not be "outmatched" by any Big Ten team not named Ohio State . Iona has two players that could damn well start on your vaunted team . You did beat Siena last year in the tourney . But if memory serves , the Saints beat Ohio State the prior year . What conference do the Buckeyes play in ? We play pretty good hoops in the NJ - NYC - Conn metro area . If Indiana fans do not know , the game for national high school supremacy this year was just played between one school a stone's throw from our campus and another not much further away . Our "outmatched" guys grew up playing quite competively with their just as good predecessors . They have played in school and in other events with players on the starting rosters of Villanova , Florida , UConn and so many other of those vaunted Big Six schools . We don't get the best of these high schoolers but our conference is getting its share . We certainly have in this group that your guys " outmatch . Hey , you guys can believe that our guys don't deserve to step on the court with the Boilermakers but you would be better served by doing it on your board or maybe at a lunch with Big Six pimp , Jay Bilas . Good luck , Friday . You don't need to tell us. Nick Leon has already put us on alert that we need to worry about matching up with you. No doubt it's going to be an uphill battle for us.

Guess what, we beat Alabama without our best player too (Robbie Hummel), and for that matter we beat the #1 team in the country in OSU without our best player, and every other team in the big ten too. We placed 2nd in arguably the best conference in america again, without our best player all season.
I guess i'm guilty of not picking up on the sarchasm. ya got me

Guys, believe me, SPC fans know Purdue is a top-flight, quality opponent who is a strong favorite in this game. I'd have rather drawn a few of the # 2 seeds, believe me....CT comes to mind. We all know the Boilermakers are a solid favorite. Having said that, if SPC executes offensively like it has during the past four games, the Peacocks should make a game of it. No injuries, fair officiating and good luck to all!

I am quite sure they wouldn't win any debates . Your point is totally silly unless Robbie will be back for this game . And let me add that it was with sadness that we saw an outstanding player go down again . I hope and will be rooting for him to come back next season to finish his outstanding career with the Boilermakers .

Thinking of asking her to give Matt a call come Thursday night. If my son wouldn't mind, might suggest she visit and relive some of the good times they had back at the old farmstead.

I don't see any way we lose to Purdue if we are on our game!! Throw the seeds out the window on this one. Heavy underdogs is right where i want our team going into the game. They have 2 good players, but we have 5! good players. Call me crazy, but i am NOT worried about this Purdue team. We saw how soft they were against Iowa and Mich. St. They don't like a physical game and we will give them one. Who do you want to face out of VCU/USC/ or G-town in the next round?

tc4three,
Don't get discouraged. After Friday we might consider opening the gates to former, non-believers.

Happy to see the humility . I am working on getting Nick Leon and John Dunne to reciprocate . Perhaps two deep bows toward West LaFayette ? If that is not sufficient , I will have them read Joe Barry's autobiography before Friday . And if you think the Big Ten is the best hoops conference in this country , we have a bridge back here to sell you .

I just had opportunity to read HoopsbytheNumbers simulation of Friday's game . Wes with seven threes , Ryan with 15 rebounds and Steve with six steals . Moore fouls out with 4:33 to go . Peacocks win 61-53 .

SportsChatPlace , a "handicapping" service , picks Boilermakers to cover the 14 in a mismatch . I prefer the HbtN analysis but hey that's just me .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Are these guys for real? Is their defense really that good, or is it a case where the teams they play can't shoot. How do they compare to Siena last year?
They are pretty delusional on SPC board, I thought I'd give you guys a try." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I say SARCHASIM once more.
