I just watched a few Purdue games . They are a solid team . If we fall asleep against them , we won't be playing on Sunday .
They are not particularly interested in banging under the boards and they will struggle getting off shots against our half-court defense , but they have two very good players in Moore and Johnson . And while their little point ain't no Scott Machado or Derek Needham , he is quick . Let's pay attention to business and move on to the second round .

SPC is already in the 2nd round in the new format.
SPC has their handsfull in this one - SPC is going up against it's mirror image, only Purdue has 3 or 4 future NBA players.

Maybe Painter can make use of this on his locker room poster board.

Only in NCAA speak are we in the second round . In reality , Peacocks have to earn their way there with a W against an opponent who can play with us at their best . Purdue is good but if they have four future NBAers then some of them will be going up against Rossiter and Glover .

We haven't played a team this year like Purdue. They're a number 3 seed which makes them one of the top twelve teams in the tournament (and country). It's be just like Oratory getting clobbered by Saint Anthony's. Take Purdue and the points. (And, please, don't compare Purdue to Alabama.)

Looks like we already have them conned. I don't think anyone thinks we are in the top class, but one thing that could help us is that the traditional performance of the Big 10 in the tournament has been very crappy. Based on performances in the MAAC tournament, playing us tight looks the way to go, but would have to be more pressure oriented. If the outsiders think we are not athletic they could get surprised. Ball handling is a weakness, but so is our shooting, so loosening up might actually benefit Purdue . So to me the real question is the ability of Purdue to run through our defense. It can be done as SHU showed. If Purdue does not, it could be a game. The mention of Siena last year overlooks the fact that we actually played pretty well against them last year and the citing of Siena in last years NCAA overlooks the fact they had Purdue crapping in their pants. We have the ability to be out of the game in the first ten minutes, but keep us around and you just might regret it.

well, I am certain Purdue will not loosen up on D. They will play in-your-face perimeter D 30 feet from the basket for 40 minutes. What typically happens in games that Purdue wins... When Purdue is successful with this type of defense, it forces the opponent to run their offensive 'sets' 5-10 feet further away from the basket than they are comfortable with. So, when they come off a screen to catch a pass, they might have an open shot... but its from 25 feet out instead of 20 feet. Purdue switches on most screens across the perimeter, the never double team the post, and they rotate/help on dribble penetration very well. Alot of times teams run their sets and cannot get a good shot, and have to force a tough (contested) shot when the shot clock is running out. Or they try and force a difficult pass, causing a turnover, and we break out. Our games are usually relatively close in the first half, then we pull away in the 2nd half, as the turnovers begin to mount, and the opponent just flat out begins to get gassed. The opponents guards use alot of energy trying to bring the ball up the court and running offense. Tired legs leads to mistakes. We literally have 6-7 guards we rotate in to play defense. I hope Matt Painter is not looking ahead! I'm confident he is taking it one game at a time. JJ and Moore are seniors... they lose and their Purdue careers are over. They have a legit shot at an Elite 8, darkhorse Final 4 this year, they will take every game seriously.

I'm a Purdue guy. No disrespect sports fans but do you even watch college basketball? Can't afford to look past the Boilermakers? is this even an issue? I guarantee you don't have a single guy on your roster that is a better NCAA bball player than any of the five starters for Purdue. again no disrespect, but get real you are totally outmatched in this game. I see that many of you talk about St. Peters great defense. Are you aware that Purdue literally has one of the best defenses in the country? Can you make that claim aobut your squad? the only real measuring stick we have hear is the common opponent Alabama. okay your team defeated alabama and that's somewhat impressive considering bcs-non-bcs. Are you aware that we beat them by probably more than 20 pts this year? It would hvae been a lot more if we didn't take out all our starters with 5 mins left. Am i saying it's impossible for St. Peters to beat Purdue? Absolutely not. Am i saying that you need to get real? Yes; your team is completely outmatched in this game

I thought you Purdue fans are supposed to be intelligent.... seriously....we are pulling your leg...There isn't a Peacock fan around that does not know what we are up against....With that being said, one thing that will never happen is that we will be scared or intimidated....just not going to happen...it is just who we are! Thanks for coming to our board...all 25 of us usually fight amongst ourselves....now we have visitors...it's fun...

We respect Purdue and we respect the state of Indiana's long and rich basketball tradition . Before I posted that you were a solid team with two very good players , I read many posts on your board talking about winning this game by 30 or 40 or those posts that assumed this game as a win and started discussing your next game or your final four prospects . I would never go on your board to counter your fans' realistic , or not , assumptions . But a few things since you are now on our board telling us our guys are outmatched .
We beat Alabama without our best player . But Alabama is only one game . We had two shots to go ahead of ODU - considered by many the best rebounding team in the country - with three minutes to go , again without our best player .. We were 12 points ahead of a Mike Rice coached Rutgers team with 10 minutes to go without our two best players . And RU played very competively in the BE , a conference that I'll dare say is a tad stronger than the Big Ten .
In our conference tourney , we held #1 seed Fairfield to 15 in the first half and high scoring Iona to 20 in the first 20 minutes . Iona and Fairfield are very good teams , teams that I dare say would not be "outmatched" by any Big Ten team not named Ohio State . Iona has two players that could damn well start on your vaunted team .
You did beat Siena last year in the tourney . But if memory serves , the Saints beat Ohio State the prior year . What conference do the Buckeyes play in ?
We play pretty good hoops in the NJ - NYC - Conn metro area . If Indiana fans do not know , the game for national high school supremacy this year was just played between one school a stone's throw from our campus and another not much further away . Our "outmatched" guys grew up playing quite competively with their just as good predecessors . They have played in school and in other events with players on the starting rosters of Villanova , Florida , UConn and so many other of those vaunted Big Six schools . We don't get the best of these high schoolers but our conference is getting its share . We certainly have in this group that your guys " outmatch .
Hey , you guys can believe that our guys don't deserve to step on the court with the Boilermakers but you would be better served by doing it on your board or maybe at a lunch with Big Six pimp , Jay Bilas . Good luck , Friday .
