Was perusing the Fairfield board and, while upset and disappointed of their loss, most were very complimentary of the Peacocks. Very classy of the Stag fans. They also have a thread dedicated to blaming the rims in Atlantic City. I'm sure some of their fans are good people but in my experience most are arrogant asshats. Both teams had the same rims. F- them. While they are a Jesuit school, fan base leaves a lot to be desired.

Watched the replay last night. Casey was clearly out coached by Mason. One example; we gave little attention to Yetna in the first half and he was able to score some easy baskets. A different story in the second as, given more attention and, by now a clearly exhausted Yetna, forced Casey to take out his only decent big man. Rather than go smaller with his best five, he chose to bring in a clearly overmatched big man in Smith. Bash immediately went to work exposing his defensive shortcomings. Clarke and I believe Bland took turns drilling open three’s. Then Washington went to work inside making at least three relatively uncontested baskets. Thus, the turning point of the game. Certainly a masterful coaching job in the tourney. Nothing more clearer than beating three teams that bested you six times in the regular season. A great job of making adjustments, particularly as illustrated by our second half performances. Another example of Mason outcoaching a rival.....After dominating us inside during the regular season, Rider was flummoxed by Coach having Houge defend Rider's big man. Sow was able to provide weak side help and came up with some big blocks. Rider's big did not score inside at will, as he did vs SPU previously, as Houge's strength caused him to take 7/8 foot shots vs. 3 foot shots. Also, choosing to defend FF's guards with Reid, Clarke and Randolph/Bland, frustratingly planting Houge on the bench for long stretches of crunch time, turned out to be a key (correct) decision. Stags and Quinny went the retread, "traditional" coach selection route. Give me a young, hungry coach (with a track record of success) every time. 2024 MAAC Tourney = Exhibit A.

A lot of MAAC talent has already entered the portal. What a shame seeing rosters getting decimated.
I have watched the Vols play several times on TV , most everything runs through Knecht, with Zeigler as the secondary option. I can’t see Houge covering Knecht. Strong enough but does not have the necessary foot speed.. Washington would be ideal to cover Knecht but it is risky from a fatigue and foul trouble aspect. It could wind up being Clarke on Knecht and Reid on Zeigler. I would not rule out Reid on Knecht. Reid is strong and quick enough but obviously undersized.
Would Armoni on Akai mess up Akai’s head? That could be interesting.
