Lots of good things happened today at RBR.
The best?
Houge in game shape, rebounding well and scoring inside. Corey and Houge being healthy make us much tougher in AC.
Any one of 4 or 5 teams can win. Our chances improved significantly today.

It was good to demolish an opponent we needed to rout. Everyone did everything they needed to do. We might be seeing the resurrection of jeron Belin in the late season healthy performance of Randolph. A healthy spu is as dangerous as anyone in ac. We truly go 9 deep when healthy with guys who can get double digits any night. Rider on the road will be hard maybe more so than quinny here. This team could reprise 2011 tournament. Their guards were better than these but they had no one as good as Washington. Regardless of what happens I’m totally invested in these guys

About as complete a performance as you can ask for at this late point in the season. If we finish strong, we have a great chance in AC.

Interesting that spu site seems to indicate that Reid holds the record now passing kee kee Clark but I’m not at all sure of that. I’ll defer to the stat keepers unless someone has similar memory as me

Great win against an overmatched opponent. Hard to imagine if we are capable of playing better than we did today. Reid had the game of his career. Good for him. He is vastly improved compared to last season. Getting Houge back is huge. He looked very good today. We appear to be peaking at just the right time.
I was impressed with Manhattan’s young players. They have some nice pieces and will be a hand-full in a couple of years. The same goes for Marist. They have some excellent underclassmen.
Right now, point guard depth is our biggest vulnerability. Randolph could be a great secret weapon for us. He flies under the radar but is very capable of making the big shot. As many of you have said, the tournament is wide open. Why not us?
I hope that we continue to recruit some high school players. Zeigler and Washington may be our most talented players and they came in the old fashion way. I would prefer to have a high school and transfer portal balanced roster. Our lack of offers and new commits is a bit concerning at this late stage unless the staff has some verbals that the recruits have not publicly shared. Hope so.

Having a healthy Washington, Randolph, Houge and Reid in the lineup makes a world of difference. We were definitely clicking on all cylinders today.

Young alum during the 20-21 season Reid was at Atlantic-Cape CC in South Jersey as a student. They didn’t play b-ball that year as NJ shut it down for all the state juncos. As such he clearly should have the extra covid year as the rule was really made for this type of situation.

I’ll defer to the stat keepers unless someone has similar memory as me I just read that in the game article. Our own record book (pg 34) contradicts this. saintpeterspeacocks.com/documents/2022/6/20/Mens_Basketball_record_book.pdfI would say that they just didn't research it but it's odd that they cite KeeKee had the record...perhaps Keekee is having fun with our SID.

LOL, it wouldn't be the first time a former player embellished to the SID.

Another funny thing is they state he passed KeeKee who had the record with 11 assists. Latrell had 11 in our first game against Manhattan this year.

figgy....Tony Holm was one of my favorite all-time Peacock players ( each of us has their own favorite) Holm was a genius with the ball and also a terrific scorer. Some of us might remember the ingenious headline when the Peacocks defeated a heavily favorite Seton Hall team featuring the man/boy Ken House. The headline , of course , read " A House Is Not A Holm'....outstanding player.
For my money our greatest assist player was Harry Laurie....by far. Others may have had individual great games but Harry was the best. As Elnardo Webster once said " Harry was the Passer and I was the Scorer" And there were others ( O'Dea, McMahon , Grant etc who were the recipient of Harry's passe, not to mention that Harry could score also.
Aside from the eye test, why is Harry not listed in the Record Book? Simple answer, We didn't keep those minor records back then....only the basics.....Points, Rebounds etc. Those "other" statistics began just a few years later.
So without benefit of statistics and aside from the "eye test" on what do I base my claim. Well those SPC teams averaged close to 90 pointS a game under Don Kennedy. Later teams averaged significantly less points. Can't imagine how many assists Harry got with a Team that averaged 90 pts per game ! Other may have had great individual games but our best assist guy overall was. Harry.
Finally, I have sort have a prejudice against Assist totals in general.. As all our basketball knowledgeable fans know that in order to get an assist the player who receives the pass still has to score. Otherwise, no assist. Remember quite well JD's comment on Nick Leon who had recorded 6 assists in a crucial game. In praising Nick's play JD said the he should have had 15 assists if others could only covert and put the ball in the basket! All of us remember those days! So congrats to those former Peacock's who had great individual days as well as those individuals who convert a pass into a basket. More important to me is really the assistant/turnover ratio as a sign of great guard play.
All in all obvious congrats to Reid for his great play.
