SP hosts the Jaspers Sunday at RBR. SP -12/131.5. In the first game, SP won 81-68 with both teams shooting over 43% from the field. Washington only played 27 minutes because of foul trouble and had 17 points. Clarke off the bench had one of his best games 15 points. What's interesting is both teams had 18 fouls but SP was 22-29 from the line as opposed to MH 13-17. Also, MH outrebounded SP 34-29.
A few things I remember of that game... Rouzan was really tough inside. Mostly jump hooks and kept MH in the game. McLain was solid and had 14 points. Cowan was a non-factor. However, Cowan was big time v Siena last night. Since the first game a few things have changed. MH has added Clayton (26 years old) and McLain hasn't played in last 2 games. Clayton and Winston played 40 minutes each last night. I'm thinking SP has a clear advantage at guard play in not playing in a week. I'm not sure what happens but I do look for SP to come out on fire and try to end this game in a hurry. Go Peacocks!

At 26 I had my 5 year SPU reunion. We’ll see how Clayton bounces back from 40 on Friday, it’s harder to recover for us old guys.

Youngalum comes through once again. Ty. This guy is good. Couldn't agree more. St Peter's most points scored this year in the first game. Not sure of status of Bender or McLain, but the guards have to be a little fatigued. I think SP may press sooner than usual and go for the knockout punch early. Hopefully, this will be a snooze-fest by half time.
Interesting to see the status of Hogue. I'm guessing boot may be off. If not, bad sign. Go Peacocks!

Good game to lose the rust. We’re controlling the boards, unlike last meeting. Keeping our defensive intensity. Like the fact we’re sharing the ball.

Monster first half from Reid with 12 &9. No let ups need to close it out strong. Was hoping Canisius would do us a favor and knock off Rider but no such luck.

Shame on Bash for not allowing Reid the triple double.

Said he was not aware. Staff has the stats, what’s wrong.

I was surprised Bash said that but honestly it’s the right call. If Reid gets hurt in the last 3 minutes of a 30 point blowout we would all be screaming about him being in the game. Regardless a monster game by Latrel and great to see Hogue healthy and playing well. Huge game Thursday night.

Playing well but still a long shot at #1. We need to win out while Fairfield has to lose one and Quinny another besides us.

My takeaways. Monster game by Reid. 1 rebound for the first triple double in SP history. * Reid best fall away jumper in the lane by anyone in the MAAC. * Hogue moved well. 100% *Randolph can shoot like Washington. *Sow does gave stone hands. Best pass he can get is a bounce pass.

Sorry, cut off. I think Washingtons best thing he worked on over summer was confidence. *anyway we can get Reid an 8th year? Finally, SP tied for 2nd. It's ours to take. Go Peacocks!

*anyway we can get Reid an 8th year? Funny you say that. I get that you’re kidding but by my math Reid has played 3 years for us and 1 for Coffeyville (19/20). I haven’t been able to find any whereabouts for his 2020/2021 year. I don’t quite understand all the rules but it’s not out of the question that he could have another year of eligibility given the Covid year.

Highest point total of the year, 10 of 15 from 3, five players in double figures, Reid 17 assists to 1 turnover, Randolph 4-4 from 3. The numbers are staggering. Two big games to go before AC.

Youngalum, agree. I think if Reid wants to come back, he is eligible. If he leaves, gonna be a hard spot to fill. I like that Hogue played well and totally free from injury.
Rider, beware. I like our chances in the push for the MAACT. As always, Go Peacocks !
