. I think the elephant in the room is Bash is a better coach than Tobin. Tobin cashed in by beating PurWho and is getting alot of mileage of it.. A bit of an unfair statement. Tobin has won everywhere he’s been and was a very highly regarded D2 coach at STAC. His name was in the mix for a lot of the local D1 openings before getting hired by FDU. Tobin is basically in the same scenario Bash was a year ago where he needed to recruit an entirely new team in a few months. I bet Siena would love to have him at this point!

Good presser. Tobin did state that Coach Bashir is doing a better job than him right now.

Another stellar defensive effort and another hard earned win. I was delighted to see Randolph continue his offensive output. We sorely need him to help space the floor. While he is lighting it up, his passing leaves a lot to be desired. Bash should not let him pass the ball inbounds against the press.
While we have good reason to feel like we are back on track, I have big concerns about our back-up point guard scenario. Clarke’s handle has regressed. When he puts the ball on the floor, there is a good chance he will turn it over. Unfortunately, I don’t think we have a better solution, though I would like to see Bash give Zeigler a few minutes there to see what he could do. If we remain healthy (can Houge stay on the floor?), the back-up point guard dilemma is my greatest concern.
Does anyone know the health status of Tanksley? If the redshirt rule is 6 game appearances and the player can maintain the redshirt, if Tanksley is healthy, is he an option for the MAAC tournament as a back-up if needed?
Just about all remaining games will be tough ones. The one that scares me the most, is Mount Saint Mary’s. I think we beat everybody else.

Dreamweaver agree that the road trip to MSM is gonna be tough. They seem to play much better at home. Although it looks like they might be hurt by some injuries as well.
Regarding Tanksley he had surgery on 10/26 on his fractured fibula. I don’t think there is any chance we see him this year.

Iona’s offense may have been a little out of sync today but give much of the credit to another stellar SPU defensive effort. With Houge down most of the game with a twisted ankle, Iona dominated the offensive board. Fortunately they were unable to finish many of their put backs and second chance attempts. Hopefully just a sprain and no ligament damage. Credit also goes to Corey for continuing to play under control. With Tretout in his draws, he didn’t try rushing his shots, and forced a number of foul opportunities in the second half when Iona began to tire. In addition to scoring, rebounding and defensive growth, he has given us a whole new option, bringing the ball up against the press. His development has been extraordinary; his outside shooting in particular has turned him from a low major power forward to a now high major small forward. Be resigned to the inevitable as suitors begin to spell his name.
We still remain a bit limited offensively, but with Corey contributing and drawing much of the attention, we are beginning to see some of the scoring flow to Randolph. If Zeigler can show more control and Clarke not indiscriminately attacking the basket, we might be seeing a team that will match equally with any league opponent. First on the wish list is having Houge back healthy. Without his inside strength we will be forfeiting many second chance baskets to the likes of Quinnipiac, Rider, Niagara, as well as Iona.

Spot on re: Houge’s impact, especially preventing opponents from playing volleyball underneath. Healthy Houge + Corey = a very legitimate shot in AC.

Thanks Youngalum for the updates. If Leffew is out that could be huge. I know MSM is tough at home and are well coached. They like to go up and down like Iona. Hopefully, Hogue is OK and can contribute. Stealing one on the road will go a long way in seedings. Long story short, if you ask the other 10 coaches in the MAAC who they don't want to play in March, SPU is gonna be the pick. Go Peacocks!

Great honor. He was listed as 3rd team MAAC at beginning of year. He is definitely 1st team.
Going back to Jadens rankings. If you notice, he loves to favor teams with individuals in stats. I think that may be a reason to fade SP. I'm not sure if there is a minimum requirement but Corey should be up there with rebounds and ft%.
Great honor for POW... Should be POY. Let's keep him. Go Peacocks!
