Thanks Youngalum. Can't disagree with him. Without Washington, and Reid and Hogue less 100%, FF needs to help the Peacocks in some way. Keep it in the 50's we win. Go Peacocks!

No excuses, but….
Starting center much better defensively than his replacements has not played a minute. Starting PG lost for the season 10 days before tip off. Houge and Washington have hardly played since 1/1. Reid has shooting hand taped.
As much as anything, allowing for offensive shortcomings of this roster even at full strength, the injury bug has decimated our chances for serious contention this season.
Just have to hope Houge, Corey and Reid are 100% when AC rolls around so we can shoot our best shot (no pun intended).🤞
Coach must really be frustrated; what can you do?🤷🏻♂️

Another tough loss. In the end we had the shot we wanted to tie the game, but it just didn't fall. We missed some critical foul shots down the stretch. We sure do miss Washington. On the positive side, Randolph and Clarke had really good games.

We don't play again until next Friday, so the team should be well rested for Siena. Hopefully the extra time off gives Washington enough time to be healthy enough to suit up. Playing Siena at home is a must win.

Another great effort, another loss.
While Washington would help, there are more reasons than the loss of one player for our troubles. While we all lament about our lack of shooters, dribble penetration, and passing, there is an area that could be improved that would help us put more wins on the board. Teach our players how to defend without committing so many fouls.
Today, FF had 10 more foul shot opportunities than we did and had 5 more points from the free throw line than us. Against Quinipiac, they had 6 more points than we did from the free throw line. Niagara had 11 more free throws attempts and 9 more points from the line than us. While I have not done a deep dive for the season on this issue, I strongly suspect that the free throw discrepancy would paint an ugly picture. For some reason we do all we can in preventing the opposition from getting a good look and then undo all the hard work by committing so many fouls. While I don’t see us substantially improving our offense, giving away free points from the charity stripe is something we should be able to improve. If we can’t manufacture points, we can’t afford to give away free throws.

Just got home from the game. Very disappointing, another coulda shoulda woulda game. What I don’t understand is Corey participated in warmups, had his warmups off on the bench sitting right next to coach all game like he was gonna check in. Why suit him up if he wasn’t gonna play? Guess it doesn’t matter but just thought it odd. Hoping we can get healthy and put it all together one day.

We don't play again until next Friday, so the team should be well rested for Siena. Hopefully the extra time off gives Washington enough time to be healthy enough to suit up. Playing Siena at home is a must win. There’s no such thing as a must win in the MAAC regular season anymore. Iona’s team last year was the last “portal proof” MAAC team that had any incentive to play for seeding in the NCAA tournament if they made it through the MAAC. With no NIT bid anymore, the regular season matters even less as there’s really no incentive for the regular champ. We saw the 5, 10, and 11 seeds in the semifinals last year and I expect more of the same moving forward. You’ll have one or two slight favorites but even when the MAAC was good it’s been much more likely that the 1 seed loses than wins. You’ll have one or two teams like Siena that are awful and have no chance. And then 8-9 mediocre teams in the middle that will win it if they get hot or get the right matchups. If we get Washington back close to 100%, we have a chance in the tournament. If we don’t we’re going to be one and done. The last few weeks have been the same story- team plays hard but we’re not good enough to lose 15ppg and our only legitimate threat in the post.

Pride I agree with the caveat we need to finish top 5. While the 6-11 seeds can win games down in AC winning 4 in 5 days is a tall order.
Should be a wild tournament. Quinnipiac got whooped my MSM today.

Dreamweaver, agree on the fouls. Ever since I have followed SP, 2019 on, they have a tendency to foul quite often. As we all know, defense is played with your feet.
Anyway, as Youngalum said, Washington dressed not playing. SP 1-5 without him. Siena only win.
Pride is right. MAACT only thing that matters. Hopefully get a top 5 seed. I prefer 3 myself.
Last thing, sitting here watching IU get thumped by PurWho. I take solace in 2 things.... 1, PurWho and Kaintucky BOTH can't win the NCAAT. And 2, SP beat both of them, for without question, my favorite NCAAT of all time. Go Peacocks!

As to Washington - he has a wrap on that shoulder with not just a support but a padding as well. My guess is right now he’s a one arm player. We still dont value the ball enough for a team with little consistent firepower. Defense is tremendously important but u gotta be able to score with some regularity. Scrambling up get to 60 is just too much to ask. I did not agree with our last possession. We had over 17 secs down 2. Why run the clock down to 4.6 and then call a to? Either call it early to organize a couple of scenarios either for a 2or3 or let it run at the 5 sec mark go to the rim and maybe force a foul. Personally after the to with the way the game was going I’m drawing up a 3 for Randolph zeigler or Clarke. I know we missed from about a foot at the horn but that’s my preference. I’m sure others would have gone for 2. It’s a matter of choice. I remember the first conversation I had with sha when took over and he told me “ I need guards”. We need guards who are better decision makers throughout out the clock. U get that and it’s amazing what kind of shots u get snd how much better shooters the others become. Anyone else think that bland just never has the same release point on his shot? And I’ll never understand why his shot comes down with ice on it. He’s had a few good shooting nights but he will never be a consistent shooter

Looked as if they wanted to free up Randolph off the ball. When that didn't happen, he took the TO. Wish we had 7-8 seconds instead of 4.6 for the last look.

Unlike some and despite the lackluster preseason views of many, I am reasonably satisfied with how the team has performed thus far. Few held high hopes from what was added or gained in the off season, but were bolstered by a poor MAAC and a portal that was damaging to all low majors. Other’s sustained hope from the anticipated return of Oumar and a predictable fan base that does not give much thought to injury. To my thinking, we remain only a big forward (by MAAC standards), or two, of being near the top of the league’s best. Few deny our offensive limitations but (again ignoring fan-delusional health issues), a healthy Washington and a fully healed Hough, would give us the nucleus to compete with any league member. It stands particularly true in our case, given where our principle weaknesses lie. A glance at recent games show the lack of respect for any inside scoring and our inability to counter otherwise. While Washington has surprisingly added an outside game, his value to us is still more inside. An early-season level Hough added to Corey’s all around play, will give us what we are lacking most, a scoring presence inside and allow our guards the space needed to operate outside. Sow and Roberts, while hard working, complimentary members, can not offer this. Similar to what might be heard from other programs, barring injuries, we should be able to compete for the top spot in A.C.

Hate to say this loved the analysis. I'm assuming Ouman is being save for next year with a possible medical for the year following. Therefor I'm much more interested in the guards for the future.
