SP favored by 4.5 and 131.5. The first game, SP won 54-52. The stats were pretty even except for Canisius was 7-21 from 3 point range, while SP was 2-12. In addition, SP was 14-19 from FT line, Canisius, last in MAAC in FT's was 9-20.
SP starters were Randolph, Bland, Sow, Reid and Hogue. All players scored with the exception of Wood (2 minutes). Reid led with 10. For Canisius, Mitchell and Uijtendaal led with 16 and 12.
SP down 7 at half, rallied and outscored Canisius 36-27 2nd half. I thought SP would be favored by more actually. Iona was -8 at home v Canisius. Since the SP game, Canisius is 2-6. I see more scoring this time and better shooting by SP. Free throws will be an advantage down the stretch. If Sow and Roberts can limit Mitchell (I'm sure Washington et al will help), should be a win. Let's not stumble to the 9th place team at home. Go Peacocks!

This is the definition of a “bounce-back” game. Cannot afford a slip here. We have better players, better coaching, and playing at home should align with a victory..

Washington playing very well. And nice to see Bland have a hot hand. Let’s keep it going in the 2nd half.

We really gutted this one out. This was an ugly, physical game. Historically the Griffs have given us trouble and they certainly did today. They are a very physical team and pushed us around. They out-rebounded us by 6. We really miss Houge inside against physical front lines.
We were a different team when Reid was on the floor. Without him we were stagnant and sloppy. I don’t know if they track plus/minus when players are on the floor but if they did, his would easily have been the best, probably something like plus 15-20 with him on the floor. He was that much of a difference maker for us.
I never felt safe with the lead. Glad this one is in the books.

Dreamweaver, well said. Defense in second half, limiting them to just 22 points, helped tremendously. Rider Thursday. No gummies in the MAAC.

Clearly Clarke had a bad day but bland was everything I guess sha saw when he offered him. But bland Roberts et al don’t see when an apparent advantage isn’t and push it when we really do t have numbers. Great defense in 2nd half after kissing off 12 point first half lead. Dinkins got a donut in the 2nd half after dropping several first half 3s. Missing houge and oumar really hurt as Mitchell got both Roberts and sow in foul trouble. Once again we got 3 double digit scorers and zeigler had 8. The zebras were terribly inconsistent. Frankly Washington could have had 5+ more points had they called fouls at the rim consistently. But a canisius sweep is not common so we take it. Really inconsistent rider next

Defensive lapse at the end of the first half, but a great defensive recovery in the second half. Washington headed for ALL MAAC. Great to see Bland have a breakout game. Let's not forget about Reid who had a strong game and really controlled things when he was on the floor. Can't wait for us to be completely healthy and have Houge and Diahame back in the line up. Heard that Tanksley is making very good progress on his recovery. If we can hold onto our players during the portal season we will have a nice nucleus to build on for next season.

Maybe a bit simplistic but; we make only three 3-pointers at Fairfield and we lose, eight vs Canisius and we win. Beginning to lose the battle on the boards, have to get a healthy Hough back. Nice shooting by Bland, seems he has more success when he gets the ball out quickly. Beginning to appreciate his defense. Not the quickest man on man, but plays good help defense and is disruptive in the passing lanes.
Our offense stalls, little movement when we don’t pass the ball crisply. Bash has us running more when we get the ball out quickly. Maybe poor percentage in a set offense is the reason.
On paper, some soft opponents coming up.
Think I have a better chance of seeing the court before Oumar.

You are probably correct about Diahame not seeing the floor anytime soon, so listen to your phone because it may be ringing for you. There is a rule called the "four-game redshirt" or the "clothesline rule" that lets you play 4 games and still be able to redshirt. Mason may be saving Diahame for the MACC Tournament. In the meantime Roberts and Sow have been doing an adequate job filling in at the center position, especially on defense. As the say you can't teach height. I'm not sure, but if Diahame redshirts he may have 2 years of eligibility because of COVID.

The four game redshirt rule is only in football

Diahame still has 2 years of eligibility after this. He didn’t play last year (red shirt) plus the covid year. I don’t think him not playing has anything to do with eligibility.
Good to hear about Tanksley.
