I hate to say "I told you so"... but...
I wonder if Jaden's great great grandfather scribed, "DEWEY WINS!" ?

The Dangerfield’s of the MAAC. Maybe Jaden forgot we’re still in the league.

Keeps the target off our back for a couple more weeks. Must remember Jaden credits SPU for keeping himself in this MAAC reporting mode.

I love the intensity of how we play but 9 turnovers from our combined point guards is a concern and could be our achilles heel. On the positive side, Corey Washington is moving into star status. He is really coming in to his own. Coach Bash is doing a terrific job. We are lucky to have him.

Other than cone of silence, can’t knock Bash. He loses his pg in preseason, and then his big man does not recover enough to see any tine to date and yet he has us 8-5. Too early yet but anyone who doesn’t think he is the lead coach for COY have no clue.

Of our 11 active players 9 have had at least one game in double digits so far this year. Only the 2 Elijahs have not. In any game someone e can be our 2nd and 3rd scorers. But Washington is a must night in and night out. And I’m sure there will be nights where finding a 3rd scorer will not be easy and might not happen. That’s when the overall ability of everyone to chip in and our defense and rebounding will have to carry the day. Like I said earlier every game is an adventure

I was surprised he didn’t put Quinny second since his story basically focused on Quinny even with SPU is in the midst of a 5 game winning street.

Take care of Stetson in Dayton then a rematch against Purwho in Indy 👀

It's funny you mentioned that Youngalum. I was thinking last week that when SP earns a bid to NCAAT, that etched in stone they will play PurWho or Kaintucky. No doubt about it.

One of the telltale stats so far this season, is the fact that our top five players by minutes were all guys that were recruited to come here the old fashion way. That suggests to me that total reliance on the portal for future players may be a gamble not worth taking. You might argue that this core group of Reid, Bland, Ziegler, Sow, and Washington are ahead of the new players because they are in their second year with Coach Bash as opposed to the newer portal transfer group that does not have the benefit of the extra year of familiarity. That may or may not be true but the potential upside of our traditional recruits appears to be higher than the portal group.
From where I sit, I hope that we recruit at least one or two talented high school players per year. Total reliance on the portal looks very iffy to me.

Dreamweaver- interesting take. Of the 5 you cite 3 are shahs and 2 are bash which does mean coach bash has gotten one good frosh each year. I like your proportion of getting one or two frosh and try to add portal talent in a needs targeted way. Of course the big problem is that quality frosh leave some sooner than others. It would be an upset of Kentucky proportions if Washington makes 1st team all Maac this year and returns next. Hes a really nice kid who seems to enjoy New York region so who knows. Same for zeigler if he turns out to be roy this year. But one thing I’ve thought about in recent years is that bc of the portal and coaches preference for it there has to be many 3-31/2 star hs kids with far fewer offers than on the old days so I wonder whether we can take advantage of that situation by offering kids who used to get high mid offers but are ignored bc of the portal. But I think a poster pointed out after the tipoff dinner that coach bash favored the portal. But I’d like to see dreamweavers vision come to pass

I'm afraid the portal and our reliance on it is here to stay. Truthfully, we are likely to see at least one or two defections per year and the portal will be the way to replace our losses.
