UMBC at SP tomorrow night. SP -8 and 147' O/U. The last time SP had a higher O/U was 2018 season at NC St. (150) and went under. I think SP rolls by double digits. I don't think SP hits 80 (last time v Bucknell in 2022), but I see mid 70's. SP defense should limit UMBC in scoring. Look for 20+ 3's from each team. Love the Peacocks here. As always, Go Peacocks!

A couple of other things. Per Kenpom, UMBC adjusted tempo #1 in the country 77.1. SP 62.1. I did see some of the the UMBC game the other day. I don't think they press . It may be a track meet, however I think coach Mason stays with the offense and plays defense and rebounds. 75-63.

20 minutes to tip-off. I couldn’t make the game but will be watching on espn+. No moral victories tonight, we need to go out and take the W on home court.

2/10 from 3. 4/10 from the foul line…and I didn’t plan on drinking tonight.

Peacocks win! Foul shooting improved in 2nd half. Wasn’t pretty but can’t complain about a win on a night you shoot 2-21 from deep.
Side note. I don’t recall his name but there was a new color guy tonight. Huge upgrade over last game. I thought he did a very good job.

Great win. Rebounding, turnovers and the press sealed the deal. I thought it would be a little easier and more scoring. The good news is the Peacocks instilled their will to play their style. Go Peacocks!

I missed the first half, which I guess was a good thing, however; it's been a very long time that I've seen our full court press work better then it did in the 2nd half. We totally took advantage of them and it was fun to see. Great hustle, very aggressive and lots of energy. I also liked our drives to the basket, which created opportunities for either a layup or offensive rebound. Unfortunately, once we captured the lead, we started shooting from the outside again, which was definitely NOT working tonight. All in all, the 2nd half demonstrated what we can do and the boys beat a team they should have.
Hope the way we're playing leads to more conference success.
I also agree with Youngalum - the announcer was good and added to the telecast.
Go Peacocks!!!

In first half we were terrible and umbc was making shots in their offense. Pressure in the 2nd half was a difference maker. Reid made some important plays on both ends and Washington’s toughness changed the energy level for us. Roberts did some good work as well. Say this for bland he rebounds and works hard on defense but he just has not gotten any better on offense. It’s funny how we kind of walked through the first half and then took the game when we really pressured them and got our own energy way up which fed on the turnovers we got. It was pretty ugly but I’m not throwing it back

Figgy, you hit the nail on the head regarding Bland. Can’t seem to hit the side of the barn. At this point, Ziegler needs to start instead of Bland. Regarding Reid, 20 points and 8 steals! Defensive pressure really got to the Retrievers. Lastly, we really protected the basketball and kept turnovers to a minimum.

It was a nice win considering we did not shoot the ball very well. We are a team that plays terrific defense, rebounds the ball, and makes foul shots. Our dribble penetration, our shooting and our ball handling are not very good. The guys play very hard or they don’t play for Bash.
I am one who was not a big fan of Reid but for this kid to turn into a respectable offensive player is nothing short of a miracle. He would have been the last person on the roster that I would have predicted to have a breakout season. Kudos to him and the coaching and bad on my part for selling this kid short.
I am probably one of the few who sees real potential in Bland. If he gets his feet set, he can make shots. If he doesn’t , the results are predictable. UMBC was a good defensive team, especially on the perimeter. We did not get many clean looks and that is one of the reasons why we shot so poorly. But if we can grind out wins without shooting well, so be it. Thank our defense.

Side note from last night. We now get plastic laminated credit card like season passes. Will make it easier at the door. No fumbling for cell phones or paper. Is this Katie’s first “improvement”? If so she’s at least thinking about her most important clients- a refreshing change from more recent experiences

I remember when we didn't have to worry about any of this when there was no charge.....insanity. Glad we started to charge again and I'm happy to contribute to SPU.
