Folks, Buffalo swing this weekend. First up, Niagara. Line is Niagara -1' and 124. There is absolutely no way SP can play like Monday. Let's hit some shots and play D. First to 60 definitely wins. Go Peacocks!
The big question is, will Washington see any minutes?

Big game tonight. A win and the trip is already a success a loss and we have to beat a good Canisius team Sunday to avoid an 0-2 start. Maac hoops had a preview I posted below.

Thanks Youngalum. I'm interested if and how many minutes Washington plays. The new guys have contributed quite a bit. Gonna have to make some shots. Cannot afford a 10-0 run. I think the team that has the biggest run wins. First to 60. Go Peacocks!

The fact he was warming up Monday leads me to believe Washington plays tonight. Anxious on how he looks. He was lights out against NJIT, hoping his shoulder hasn’t affected his improved shot.

Not being able to watch the Rutgers game and depending on the Rutgers announcers I expect us to be in for a poor game. In the past I noted the poor offensive flow in the only win we had this year. Some of it showed up in the Lowell game. We don't seem to have a half court game and any pressure disrupts any flow we want to develop. The burden falls on Mason to correct that lack of continuity. Blaming it on missing players is being disingenuous as the play pattern is run for all on the team. No miracle is going to come back just because Washington comes back. I'm not trying to be negative and hope Mason corrects this. At Rutgers the announces commented on it looked like SPU didn't know what they wanted to do. Less talented players can be taught what to do but might not succeed. It doesn't seem that has been the case. I'm hoping for improvement here. The key issue will be how they preform against any pressure.

Have to agree with peacock about our offense or lack there of. It seems like we aren’t sure how we want to attack, what shots we want to get or where on the court we want to be. Frankly I’m a bit tired of our teams being so offensively challenged for years. If the ee run showed anything it’s that while incredible defense gets a certain amount of success being able to score is essential to exceptional success. That team could get points from about 9 different players and was hard to defend as a result. While it doesn’t fall totally on him I think we still see Reid as a deficient floor general even if he has improved as a shooter (RU notwithstanding) we take too long to get into our offense and spend too much energy on pointless motion often resulting in the wrong guy with the ball in the wrong place late in the clock. We need to play with more confidence s as d purpose on that end of the floor for sure

Figgy, BINGO. I've followed SP since '19-20. Offensively challenged is an understatement. I know in any sport a possession is like a bar of gold, but SP, with limited possessions exacerbate it even more. Let's get the swing in tonight. Go Peacocks!

Can we practice breaking the press? Clarke WAY too many turnovers.

Nice win. Buffalo is always a tough place. Good to see some important offense from about 7 players. Funny how making shots reduces rebound numbers! I see canisius rolled quinny so peacocks will need a strong effort Sunday. Griffs might be best team in Maac given riders penchant to underachieve and Iona looking fairly average at this point anyway

Nice win on the road and great to see Corey back. Going forward we really need to cut down on the turnovers especially against pressure. Quick turnaround against arguably the best team in the MAAC right now. Hogue was limping pretty good in the handshake line. I hope they iced that ankle all night.

If we don’t learn to handle the ball better than we do now, pressing teams will be our downfall. Iona presses the entire game.
Other than our bad passing against the press, our poor passing shows up in other places. Forcing passes into the post when our bigs are both fronted and with a defender behind them is pure insanity. Hopefully we can learn to be better. That said, there were stretches of this game where I thought we were playing as well as we are capable. That provides hope for our future. The fact that we found that this early in the season is another encouraging sign.
When I look at our players, I look for guys that exude confidence. Some of our players have more than others. I see that confidence in Reid, Washington, Houge, Clark, and Zeigler and Zeigler hit the biggest shot of the night for us. If Coach Bash unleashes this kid, we will have a future star.
I am somewhat surprised to see both Wood and Perkins glued to the bench in the second half. I have to believe that Bash is unhappy with their defense because Wood hit two nice treys in the first half. It looked like Houge is hurting and could miss a few games with that twisted ankle. At full strength, we could give Canisius a good battle. Without Houge, I am not so sure.
