We can all agree that our team will continue to have ups and downs and this one was very definitely a downer. Give Marist credit though. They shot well above their normal average including the foul shooting and John Dunne had a good game plan. In the last two years as our coach he began using a 2 man trap on the up front ball handler and while it largely was ineffective for us and opened up a corner shot against us it worked well this time. It basically tied up Astrada from his normal penetration style game. One weakness however in his style continues to be handling full court pressure which got us a little closer.
We did not defend well inside and allowed too many threes at least early on but the biggest problem is our continuing problem with turnovers. Our passing particularly when trying to up tempo is really poor and has to get better which it probably will but when and how consistent will it be? How many times has someone stepped on an end line or out of bounds in addition to the poor passing? One plus is that our inside passing has improved.
To date this team has exceeded expectations and barring a late season collapse should be definitely int the mix in the MAAC tournament but passing improvement must be priority.
Go Peacocks.

Well said armoryrotc. Reading the posts on this Board, think we are all on the same page. That said, we know what needs to be fixed/improved ( turnovers/passing etc ) and I'm sure that Sha is quite aware. The problem is not knowing all of that but execution. See Cindy and some of our fans at Monmouth tomorrow.

Agree with all of the above. We really need Lee back as he's our only true point. Hope to see him play today.

Remarkable we are only 4 behind at the break. Without Lee, no offense flow again. Jones was able to help some when he subbed in. Two hometown calls on phantom charges cost us 6 points. Aside from Hammond, Monmouth has shown little.

Give a great deal of the credit to the vets, Jones and Taylor. Especially Jones who was the key in giving stability to the offense. As we know, not a point but played under control and moved the ball where it needed to go. While Monmouth did not offer much, save for Hammond in the first half, they were undefeated at home and benefitted, I felt, from some favorable calls. Win was particularly satisfying since we again were without our lead guard, Matthew Lee.
