It appears our beloved jajk has been jerking the Siena faction around who have been creaming in their pants that QT from Kansas by way of St Pats is considering Siena as his school of choice.
Maybe the funnier part is that jajk implies that SPC is on Thomas's list. I have no clue and the fit would be great for the 2011 season with two seasons after that. Now I have no idea if there is any truth to this or just one of jajk fabrications about Jersey Boys that seem to be so far over the top to be instantly recognizable as phony.
Just makes it more interesting to discuss than memories of SPP past players.
Also most might want to know that Charles Funches was denied admission to Fordham. Not sure if that puts him on our radar but you never know.

"Q" will go higher than the MAAC, I think. Any recruiting updates would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd be surprised if Thomas landed anywhere in the MAAC, but he and Shumate WERE teammates and Kevin Boyle was his coach so I hope that JD is at lest sniffing around.

Aren't you aware, Siena is much higher than the MAAC? The circle jerk crew is reaching unprecedented heights of ejaculation, moving cow tipping to the number 2 spot in adult recreation for cosmopolitan Albany.
Turning to more pedestrian program's, the delay or lack of response from some of our targeted wings leaves me even less confident that we will meet some of our recruitment goals. Funches is an intriguing prospect having shown, at least in unstructured play, that he is capable of being a big force inside. Unfortunately, our primary need still remains the capture of one or two that can score from outside. Gaston passing muster at Fordham makes one even more skeptical of Funches' fortunes in the classroom.

Gaston passing muster at Fordham makes one even more skeptical of Funches' fortunes in the classroom. Pushing for moderation, Funches never had an LOI, Gaston did and you would not hear on his success in this matter until after his Prep year is over, so your premise is weak, big surprise. Usually the problem with JCs is acceptible courses. Have no idea how much waffle room there is there for us, but we are comparing ourselves to a National University. Not sure about the lack of info. Even with insiders Dunne has been pretty tight lipped. For example Hanson can not sign so would you hear anything. The real question will be Samuels.

He might get the offer, but will he get the minutes. As far as locals go, not much in the A10 category as Fordham rates well below their own league. He could try Philly but a shorter stretch for being local than Hayseed town. At the BE, he would probably see the same treatment he encountered at Kansas. He could be screwed every new season. So the MAAC or even the NE could offer a stud position and he would potentially impact.

My premise may not be sound but certainly stronger than your logic. Kid was denied for good reason. Fordham needs bodies, particularly after more defections are counted. LOI explains nothing when making the comparisons. Nothing out of Hanson which to me is telling. Would not expect any soundings from Dunne since he is prohibited either way. What is telling is that his scope of interest seems to have expanded. BE is possible for Thomas. See Rutgers. Another local in SHU is possible although I think Gonzo believes he has more immediate bodies in hand.

Look at Rutgers recruiting class and he kid becomes just another also ran.Same holds for SHU with all their big time transfers. You seem to forget that every fan seems to think just like the Siena group and want any body that comes out. It is the kid that just got screwed over by a BIG and he wants to jump right back into two notorious snake pits, one inhabited by true snake and the other by only a snake charmer with little aptitude to deal with talent. Making an impact does not bode well for either team. As far as your knock on an LOI, you lose sight of the fact that you are comparing apples and oranges with respect to qualifying. Fordham may need bodies, but it is still the administration that dictates academics. Wanting a kid without proper credits will not be overcome by the basketball crazies. The matter on qualifying will not be known on Gaston until after he finishes up. However they already know what the credit situation is for Funches. So you make a judgment well before any valid knowledge on the kid. As far as Hanson goes, I have no idea, but your premises seem to loaded with the premature problem most newbies suffer from.

As for Gaston, don't think Fordham would have extended LOI if they did not think there was a reasonable chance to get past Admissions. For what that's worth, only used as comparison against Funches. Your last paragraph? ........meaning that they suffer the delusion of believing they belong better? If correct, not sure what that has to do with what was said. You think Thomas considers himself an also ran? No, like most high profile hs kids, he believes he got screwed over at Kansas. SHU no, but RU a possiblilty, assuming Hill thinks he has the luxury of looking beyond next season.

Naive comment. Risks are constantly be taken for decent talent. Fact also remains you seem to ignore the credit reason for Funches. The only confusion I would have is the fact that Dunne's only comment on Funches in the past was he was going to Fordham. Your last paragraph? ........meaning that they suffer the delusion of believing they belong better? If correct, not sure what that has to do with what was said.. The subject in the comment was fans and it applied to those on either side of the positive or negative. You think Thomas considers himself an also ran? No, like most high profile hs kids, he believes he got screwed over at Kansas. SHU no, but RU a possiblilty, assuming Hill thinks he has the luxury of looking beyond next season. No but he has to have some smarts already seeing how majors treat kids. Hill has recruited superbly but can';t get out his own way from the bench. SHU has a world of big boys coming in and Thomas would be just one of the boys with a snake at the helm. I am sure he thinks highly of himself, but I also believe he could entertain being a stud in a lower conference. Bear in mind, I am not putting us in the mix, but only debating what level he might choose. If its local, not much for the A10 and after that he has worlds of schools local and not one is Siena. Surprised not many others chimed in as this at least touches the root our problems in recruiting. I guess it is more fun to speculate on the nuances of the Prep or old times. Myself I would rather it be on the merits of the staff and their activities, good or bad.

OK, anyone hazard a guess about which of our targets we may suit up in November? Hanson? Spellman? Funches? Teague? Spencer? Spellman, if we ever got him, would probably have to sit a year. Willing to gamble Hill will do well off the bench behind Belin and Bacon at the "4/5". Hesitant to depend on Coster to shoot effectively from the "3' spot. I'd prefer we get a wing shooter, if at all possible.

I'd prefer we get a wing shooter, if at all possible. Spencer did verbal as noted above. Teaque thinks more of himself than he is and is a pure pain and would not be a good fit. In fact Iona wants him and they are welcomed to have him. He could still wind up at S Fla as they offered last year. Funches is totally unknown as the reasons he was not admitted to Fordham are unknown. Spellman would have to qualify and the only way we could get him is if he didn't and he could pay his own way, much like Conley. Hanson did visit and no one knows what the feelings were. One poster thinks this is more ominous than I do as Hanson has no coach or rep to vocalize his commitments. I had heard South Fla was courting but they have an abundance of guards and he could see low minutes. Much like Raymond popped out of the wood work, I have been told there are several others they are working on. Samuels has been mentioned by another poster and would be a nice catch. Signing day starts Wednesday, but some like Hanson can not sign an LOI. Should be interesting what comes forth within the week that follows.

I really feel like the program is at a crossroads. I think that JD is perhaps one really good player away from a really good team ( think Jim Brandon , speaking of names from the past ). If for some reason he doesn't get one, it will mediocrity at best into the foreseeable future.
