saw them a few times this year. Davis is probably a pretty high D1 guard, good handle, decent range. Roberts is a revlation considereing he did not really play at Bayonne. Needs a bigger game right now on offense but is D1 material. Lumpkin is big, but I think lazy, strange because he also plays football. Size alone makes him a D1 at some level. Walker couild also become a low D1 point by the time he leaves. Just one man's opinion

Is Prep stepping up their basketball program? I can never recall them having two legit D-1 prospects on the team. I remember a few years ago The Faa made a big deal out of Love and Robinson, but that turned out to be nothing. If any of their players are suitable for our program, I hope we're developing a relationship with them and their coach.

Has SPC ever gotten a kid from the prep? I know that we've several good players from St Ant's but I can't remember anybody from Prep?

This is a stretch but I seem to remember a kid maybe 30 years ago by the name of George Moreman (sp), or something close to that. A 6'6" center who was very talented but didn't have much desire for the game. More of a flower child type, he played his freshmen year here and then transferred to Columbia where I lost him. Only others I can remember go back to the early-mid 60's...Pete Norton and George McNally. Both I think we're captains on some very poor teams.

George Mohlman!! I remember him very well for totally irrelevant reasons: I had been invited back to campus to give a talk to the SPC chapter of the AAUP. Back in those days of course it was very difficult to get any info on the team, recruiting or anything and so I was back on campus for the first time in %&$#$% years and there in the Pauw Wow was the announcement of his signing! I later heard that he had a little trouble with Dukiet's style of coaching....thanks for reminding me!

I could be wrong but...I believe George Mohlman was not a graduate of the Prep, but I believe, St Mary's. The last player that I remember from the Prep was a guard,Ricky Baker '75. An outstanding player, who was NJ Player of the Year in '66 ,and who still makes a few games---Joe Repka

Used to see Repka at a number of games. Wasn't aware he was so highly rated in hs.

Joe was not that highly rated coming out of hs--was in fact a walk on at SPC---had a super senior year when he averaged 18.6 to lead the Peacocks. The year before he was NJ Player of the Year the winner was Bill Bradley.

Wasn't walk-on Kevin Handerhan from the Bellinger-Hunter teams from Prep? Kevin "played" in 89-90 ----scored not a single point for the season.

Kevin was in school when I was there, I believe his freshman year was 98. So he was there in the Hunter-Bellinger years. I think he was only on the team for a year or two, he got booted for an off the court incident. Not sure if he was from Prep or not.

To answer about SPP bball goals. Yes they want to compete at the highest Parochial level eg Seton Hall, Don Bosco, not necessarily St.Pats. Look for major upgrade at Hudson Cath as well now withNick Marinello on board.

Look for major upgrade at Hudson Cath as well now withNick Marinello on board. That's very interesting. Sports-wise, they've been known for their football for ages. Do you agree that this can be a very good thing for SPC? If Hudson County basketball is going to step up beyond St. Anthony's, we've got to put in the effort to mine that talent.
