Proud daddy moment...wanted to share some news with you guys....my daughter has decided to follow in my footsteps and will enter Saint Peter's University as a member of the Class of 2019. She had her choice of excellent schools such as, Monmouth, Saint Joseph's, Montclair State, Ramapo, to as far away as Florida Atlantic and Sam Houston State. Ultimately, it was Saint Peter's that won out due to its value, size, close proximity to NYC and strong business program. SPU also gave her a sizable scholarship. I couldn't be more thrilled. I guess now I will have an additional excuse to be on campus more often than just basketball games. :-)

Great news! spc91. We definitely have a strong business program which most of my golfers have as their majors. One is doing an internship at Pershing & Co this Summer. Located in downtown Jersey City. Wish her the best and if I can help in any way, let me know

Congrats 91! Hope she enjoys her 4 years as much as we all did. I was a business major myself, def have her look into some of the internship programs...that's one thing I wish I would have done.

Attended Peacock Prep Day with my wife and daughter this week. Great event and very well run. My daughter is so excited to move in next month and get started. My wife was very impressed.
I must say, I don't remember having anything similar to this when I attended the old U. Things have changed and certainly for the better at Saint Peter's. The Student Center looks great, the new School of Business facility is fantastic. Now, if we can do something about Yanitelli, we'll be in business. Any word on what the plans may be?

Congrats again SPC91. Yes, the Campus does look better...no question. However, IMO it's still a question of priorities. Yanatelli is falling apart, our Athletic Department Staff has just lost our very capable Finance person. We are now down to 4/5 including Jim Jacobson who is acting as temporary AD. Jim, the head of our Education Dept. for years, is doing a fantastic job. Wish he would want the job but he just wants to be custodian of the position until we hire an AD. Over 75 have applied, most if not all from a lower levels. Even that's OK as we need first and foremost a young, aggressive person.
IMO we don't need a "name" star, if any have even applied. Rather we need someone who is an aggressive Administrator. The AD job, which many don't understand, is 95% dealing with internal matters. Perhaps if we hired an Assistant AD to take some of the mundane day to day operations away from the AD things will get better. But as it is the new AD, whoever that will be, will be immersed in every day internal items under the sun. At St. Peter's that person needs to be a jack of all trades. Jim Jacobson is quickly finding that out. Great guy who has won the respect of all who have come in contact with him.
I could go on but let's wait and see how all this plays out. Currently the Athletic Department is working with a skeleton crew. To cite just one example we haven't had an Assistant AD in charge of athletic facilities in almost two years! Now we have lost a very capable Finance person. Thank God it's Summer!
Finally, and quite sImply it's a matter of priorities with Athletics. Appears that despite all the rhetoric, Athletics is at the bottom of the priority list. Perhaps there are financial reasons for this that I am not privy to but, to be honest, Athletics is operating on a shoestring budget and grossly understaffed. SPC fan has continually documanted this.
Mark me skeptical but always hoping for the best.

Thanks for the update, OT. Jim Jacobsen is a good man. I went to school with his daughter Kathleen. I, too, will remain optimistic. Obviously, the funds needed for improvement need to be there. However, I'm more concerned about the overall plan, if there is even one? The last thing we need is a plan to put lipstick on a pig. We need a viable plan for improvement. As you said, YAC is falling apart. Fingers crossed that the BOT is putting forward a viable plan.
