I expect it is the shallow base to follows and support the team. Two issue should at least encourage some discussion, even Galt's traditional hidden negative quips. Those issues are:
1) Make up of team and where each will find minutes.
2) Recruiting early signings. Many targets have gone elsewhere. We did have Bundu in about two weeks ago. Fun fact, the entire staff is going down to Largo to scout him. Other schools will be there but we will be the only one with the entire staff.

I'll take that as mention that I'm missed. Will extend credit back for at least making the effort to prevent this board from going on life support.
As to recruiting, next 60 days critical as we have 5 to give, including key PF and SG positions. Several targeted bigs have gone elsewhere. Bundu would be significant pickup but, despite intensive effort,, have other m-m's in pursuit, with several larger schools on the sidelines should decision come later. Kid has high ceiling by virtue of his late start, accelerated rise and strong desire to grow. Entire staff will be on hand, not so much for further evaluation but to show support and commitment. Another big still in the picture is Traore from the Philly area. Has size but some not sold on his suitability for D-1. Of the guards, NYC's Wright-Foreman is on the A-list but also for a number of other mids.
Last two recruiting cycles look to have been fruitful. With the large number out for '15, we are at the point of sustaining a competitive program or falling back to what has become the norm for the better part of two decades.

Did you not mention that there were some bigs that are not on the public record. One always hopes that what is published is not all there is. Even publically Smith, Marshall and two others are still open for 2015. One I follow is Lillard. Heard nothing about him in quite a while.

By the way, have you heard anything about Johnson. I traced her to attending summer classes and she appears in Facebook pictures. However she went silent late summer and nothing surfaced about her since.

Q, Wyche and Dominique can be penciled in for 30 minutes. Let's set Desi at 25-28.
So, Hawkins or Elias will likely get, at most, back up (20 minutes total?)time at PF/C, barring serious foul trouble by Q/Marvin. Give Fields 10 at the point.
Some combination of Patterson, Boone, Gaskins and one of the JC players should share the SF (40) and backup shooting guard (12) minutes. The identity and ultimate ability of that player to significantly contribute is my biggest unknown, as we anticipate this promising season. If JD can find an above average MAAC SF out of that bunch, the club's MAAC ceiling will be very high.....higher than any squad since '95-'96.
Re: imminent recruiting....with 5 ships to give and major PF minutes available in '15-'16, I sure hope we can find a productive MAAC PF. SG seems less of an immediate need, given the current roster makeup....but that is based on projecting this years newbies. PF is a MUST!
As has been stated, recent recruiting has certainly been way above average on the Boulevard.

There are several others which were not named. Another I can not recall. Neither Smith or Marshall give much confidence. Both have demonstrated issues. Mention of Lillard brings teammate big, McRea, to mind. Still a stretch.
Know nothing on Johnson as I generally hear little from this side. Hopefully not another injury that interupted her career.

The benefits of the exempt tourney , in addition to the small band of us getting to see the Peacocks play three extra games this season , should be invaluable to the staff in the battle for minutes with all the potential combos of players available to them . So I think the penciling in of minutes will await the heart of the MAAC season . My opinion is always that as vital as practices are , the real test for players' performance is actual games . We have 13 this year before the heart of the MAAC season starts .
As much as JD and staff want to win each game and would love the possibility of beating Big Ten , Big East , A10 squads and Princeton , my feel is that JD'S much bigger priority is to solve the player combos and minutes as clearly as possible in this "preseason" . Would guess , therefore , that all players will get at least some meaningful minutes in the 2014 part of the season ( except the Niagara and Canisius games which are much needed home wins in the MAAC if we are to battle for one of those precious first or second regular season spots ) .
Given that JD should be well aware of what Jamel's positives and negatives are as the back-up point , I will be surprised if we don't some minutes from any of two or three other players at this spot in the "preseason" . On the same train of thought , I think we might see a lot of Rodney Hawkins in the two or three games that he will be eligible for before 12/31 . I also hope that we get to see a lot of Chazz , Travis and Simeon and Elisha in this stretch to see what they may give us this season . And I would stress that this last point is meant in no way as anything negative at all about Tyler who seems such a great young man and who I believe could make a big jump in his second Div One season .

Would still like to see us recruit Linden's O Livingston jr as a guard. Would work as a combo guard and could play some 2 while Wyche is still the 1 and then move to 1 for two years after Wyche is gone. Drawback is that if they played together backcourt would be smallish. Don't know if there is any interest either way

Recruit Recon is reporting that Wright-Foreman has signed with Hofstra.
