Great comments. Lilrob, I was thinking about the FF last night and had to be reminded of Estrada's journey. Think about this and the SP, JC connection. Alabama has Estrada, UConn has Hurley, PurWho has the distinction of LOSING to SP. The comparison's are endless. Dreamweaver, I'm thinking the same thing about Washington and Arkansas. He can play there and compete.
Figgy, spot on. Cindy is correct about NIL and SP. If SP offers Washington 35k after his freshmen year, and struggles to pay him... after this year, money squandered. NIL and the portal are a death knell for middies. AAA basketball for power conferences. Last thing Figgy... flyover country? Hey, I live in flyover country and see planes at 30,000 feet everyday, lol.
BTW, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SHU beat Indiana State tonight. I'm on the money line and under and believe me MUCH MORE bragging rights here as my favorite phrase is, "I told you so about Holloway". Go Pirates!

The joke that college sports has become has no limits. He’s been at Q for 6 years but still has eligibility to transfer and play immediately. I can only laugh.

Youngalum, it's ridiculous. The first thing the NCAA should fix and is very easy... the portal. Covid is in the rear view mirror and they should go back to the old rules where if you transfer... you sit 1 year. Redshirt, you have 5 years. Transfer, you have 5 years. Pretty simple. NIL, different story. End the portal. NIL, different story. Law of unintended consequences. Go back to 100 dollar handshakes. Go Pirates.

Latigo interesting game for you tonight, I was wondering who you would be pulling for. Figured ISU would be more of a little brother than a rival. It was before my time but hard to believe they went to the National Championship game. I guess having one of the best to ever play the game helps. They could of been Gonzaga before Gonzaga.
For me I really want to watch the game but I have been boycotting the NIT. Growing up I never had an allegiance so I would pull for every NJ school. The 1989 tourney got me hooked between Princetons almost upset and the Hall's run to the final. Now it's more complicated for me as an SPU alum. I still tend to root for the other non mid majors NJ schools as long as we aren't playing them. Although now I don't want anyone to get to the Elite 8, I was pulling for Princeton and FDU to lose after their upsets lol. I'll always pull for Sha although if it was anyone else playing Indiana State I would definitely be behind the Sycamores. Love to see a mid major win it all and it would be pretty cool if they do it at Hinkle.

Youngalum, if SHA wasn't coaching SHU, I would be for ISU. However, my reason is simple. I told my buddies in 2020 that SP and SHA will be big time. They scoffed. I told them that SHA would be in P6 conference in 3 years. Check. SP made the EE in '22. Check. To be honest, it's all self promoting for me. My buddies shake their heads how I "knew" that. Hell, I have no idea. While I'm writing this post, I'm getting texts from several morons questioning my pick tonight. They want so bad to see me lose... SHa ain't letting that happen. Believe me, when SHU wins, and PurWho loses, I'm gonna be the most arrogant SOB in Indiana

Phenomenal finish by the Pirates. 9-0 run to win the game. Great game by both teams.

Folks, love it. I turned it off when it was 74-70 and was crushed. Started getting texts about how SHU sucks. Then a wonderful friend texted me and enlightened me on the SHU 9-0 run. Wow!. Congrats to SHA and SHU. I'm gonna be loud and proud.
Last thing..
If Kaintucky was smart they would hire SHA. With his connections and coaching style and the resources they have... they would win. Ssshhh dont say anything cause I want IU to get him.

One more thing. Coach Sha has an NIT Championship like Coach Knight in 79. I remember coach Knight always said the NIT Championship was more rewarding than his NCAA tournament Championships. He absolutely loved and respected the NIT. When he coached at Army, he turned down an NCAA bid to go to the NIT because the cadets wanted to play in the Gaaaarden. He was a huge fan of coach Lapchick. New York was very special. Anyway, the NIT is special and congrats to coach Sha.

As has been often pointed out here coming to a mid major as a frosh is a 1-2 year paid tryout/ internship for p6 programs. Maybe with our track record of sending kids to the “majors” we should use that approach in recruiting. It even applies to 1st year jucos. The key is identifying underrecruited kids with good upside. It also presents problems when trying to maintain a roster of kids connected to each other and not just showcasing themselves to the detriment of the team. Which is why kids like Washington are such great finds and the staff works so hard to uncover them. Getting kids from the portal is a whole other story though. Can we identify kids with upside from d2/3?even naia or somewhat obscure jucos? Are kids coming down just not as good as others thought. Head cases? Or were just in bad situations for minutes or system or staff and could flourish on a new circumstance. That’s what they get the big bucks for I guess

Folks, I just checked Sam Federman's MAAC portal. 75 players from the 13 MAAC schools (including SH and Merrimack) are in the portal. SP holding serve with only 2. Fingers crossed. That is 44% of scholarship athletes. How can any school, let alone a mid major conference, sustain that?

So far so good. Just 2 in the portal. Manhattan lost Traore and Rouzan. Big losses. I realize losing Washington and Hogue are very big losses, however, Tanksley is supposed to be really good and if I recall, Bash said the offense was going through him and he expected points. 10 days to go.
