Sadly, most of us don’t want to face the reality of what’s coming next. Maybe we keep some of our secondary holdovers but the best is being shopped around as we speak. Unfortunately I agree. Before the two time transfer ruling we’d have a chance to hold most of the team together. Now I’m not so sure. The thing I don’t understand is, if you are leaving, why the delay? I would think it would make it easier to shop and would allow us to get a jump on replacing.

Likely will land just below P-5 level as a small forward/off guard.needs to work on his shooting/handle/passing to go higher. Already a defender needs to bulk up and get stronger. Borderline NBA potential.

I was watching the women’s game the other night and commercial after commercial is featuring Caitlin Clark. I’m thinking to myself wow she must really be cashing in…and good for her. That’s what this NIL ruling was intended, to pay athletes for use of their name, image, and likeness. Somehow in a very short period of time it went from that to “collectives” where fans can see who can raise the most money to buy the best players. The NCAA needs to figure this out. I don’t know what the answer is but eventually they will kill the golden goose.

Young alum. Ur so right but this is the state of the boofer created world. As to Washington like everyone else I knew he was gone but this borderline nba talk is just horse feathers. He’s a fine. College player but the number of fine collegians who can’t smell the nba are legion. Look no further than south orange where players like whitehead del gado and Rodriguez barely saw the next level at all. I hope he cleans up in the nil market. He’s a great kid and a wonderful mid major player. But when Tennessee decided to take him away they did. And a player can get to Europe from the Maac just easily as anywhere else. When will they ever learn when will they ever learn

I’d say $75-100K is a good learn.

That’s an assumption based on what?

I’m sure it will sort itself in the next few weeks, but in my view pretty much everyone other than Washington could fall into the “secondary holdover” category. Maybe Reid could move up a conference or two for diminished minutes if he wanted to. I’m sure some will leave because they aren’t happy or think they can do better elsewhere, but we saw the drastic difference in the lineup this year when Washington was out. Time to go land a few recruits and hope Tanksley stays and is healthy for next season.

Youngalum, I think the NCAA will go away like typewriters and high-button shoes in years to come. The P5 football schools don't need them and they realize it.
As to Washington, will be difficult to replace but so was the EE team. 2years after that team portaled, SP again won the MAACT and made the NCAAT. So don't fret, just yet. BTW, Bash was the coach that recruited Washington, correct?

While the news about Washington is disappointing, I will be interested to see where he lands. If he winds up at one of the schools in Arkansas, I can understand a kid wanting to go home and play in front of friends and family or maybe for a team he dreamed of playing for as a high school player. If he winds up just anywhere as a means to leave Coach Bash or for a few bucks,, that would be far more disappointing. He is a very good player but he was not a superstar. We will miss him but we will adjust accordingly. I have a lot of faith in our Coach.

Im sad about Washington but Houge looked like he needs more minutes and focus anyway. Ill be rooting for him like I do Estrada, if Bama gets a ring Ill count it as SPU getting at least a part of one lol

That’s an assumption based on what? You can use Princeton’s Martini and Alloco as comps close to home…..and they’re one year transfers not near C.W’s ceiling. I know it hurts as a loyal fan but the kid has to put his future first.

All this stuff makes my head spin. If a kid transfers back home I get it. But other reasons are curious to me. Look at our portal losses over the years. Virtually none are any closer to the nba now as they were earlier. The one exception might be Estrada and it took him 4 schools to get to this point. And he’s no slam dunk prospect as it is. He’s largely one handed with an ok handle some good defensive instincts on a team that plays none and I’m not at all sure he has the shooting range he’ll need. I’d love to see that transcript. So the nba chase is a mirage for most. In terms of money that’s a tougher call. Rarely do our guys get life changing cash understanding that 20 or 25 k can be transformative for a kid growing up with nothing. We can only take a guess as to what the actual value was for the ee 6. But at least 3 did get back to the tournament If as Galt states Cory gets 75k+ that’s significant. But suppose that’s off by 40k or more and it’s in a non p6 school in a flyover region? Is that better than internships or job offers in the nyc market? But if Galt is right it only solidifies Cindy’s position that any nil move at spu is useless bc we can never hold a good player even against a modest mid major Heck Michigan couldn’t keep Dickinson from Kansas. How’d that work out for everybody?
