Peacocks will engage the Fighting Irish in a battle of Catholic titans this coming season, per Rothstein.
Sure beats hosting (and losing) to Norfolk State. Should help with recruiting somewhat.
Monmouth carded a couple of good road game "paydays" this coming year.

At South Bend, per Rothstein tweet.
Club went to Caribbean during '10-'11 "up cycle" season. Hope we can do the same this year.

Maybe the two paydays may get the team some new or updated locker room facilities almost a dungeon atmosphere from what i've heard.

I remember in the Loughran days the college would keep the guarantee money and give a small portion back to athletics. I don't think that's the case anymore but I also don't think we will see anything that substantial done with two guarantee games. Plus there's more teams than just men's basketball that need updated locker rooms and training facilities. Just speculating, but if there is a major upgrade on the way for Yanitelli, I would think there would need to be a master plan in place and a few different phases of the project similar to what Rider has been doing.
As you know spc fan, there's a huge gap in the annual operating budgets between SP basketball and everyone else in the MAAC. These guarantees will hopefully help close that gap.

peacockpride is correct on his take as to what would happen happen with "guarantee" monies in the past. Things apparantly have changed and the Athletic Department will now benefit.
With regard to a "master plan", we already have in place. A complete professional study for the renovation of Yanatelli. I've seen it but have not read the report ( not invited to do so ). It's extremely detailed. The entire report and plan is thicker than a telephone book. The problem with implementation is funding. Look for some announcement of a new Capital Campaign, with Athletics as a priority, in the next several months. Things are beginning to happen.

About how much will SPU receive for the privilege of getting kicked around by Notre Dame and Maryland? Is it about $50,000 for each game, plus expenses?
I hope that SPU still has some of their usual non-conference opponents on the schedule: FDU, Hartford, St.Francis, etc. These are games we're capable of winning.

We now have 3 pay day games next year in ND, MD and SHU. That probably means JD thinks we will be pretty good. It also means that Boe wants athletics to challenge themselves- a far cry from the days of Bethune Cookman etc. It's ok to be 0-3 in those, but we give SHU a hard time occasionally when we're really good. It's the 50/50 games which our penchant for "experimenting" into untimely losses that I worry about. Someone- either OT or Cindy referred a tournament possibility earlier-wonder if that's still on the table?

OT glad to hear the plan is in place. The implementation phase(s) is what I was talking about. Assuming we are renovating the current structure and not building something new, I'm curious to see if there will be different phases such as gym/bleachers, fields, locker rooms, training and academic areas, offices, to be completed once the funding is raised for each phase or will it be one big capital campaign which athletics will need to wait until it is all completed and have the renovations done in one large phase. Looking forward to hearing the announcement.
Figgyprez, I'm not sure that Seton Hall is a guarantee game. Perhaps Cindy or OT could clarify but I don't think we receive any money for playing them, just the benefit of a local rivalry (at least for SP fans) in a bigger conference each year.
