It was a very disappointing result but all congrats to Purple Eagles in coming down under adverse conditions and taking it to us on our homecourt .

If we started to play with some intensity about a minute earlier in the 4th quarter we might have won this one. Never thought we would be 0-3 and lose to the worse team in the MAAC at home. We really miss Washington.....probably would have been 2-1 with him in the line-up. There were some positives, namely nice games from Dominique, Gaskins and Patterson.

The scenario repeats. We lead 17-9 and are ready to take control. But we run untold numbers of bad sets(see Wyche playing a wretched game) and give up a 32-12 run putting us down 12. We rally-our guys don't quit and fall short at the buzzer. How many times have we seen this. Good news from Gaskins and Patterson. Dominique is just everyone's job on defense and will have to earn everything. Fields provided great energy, but everyone else was just awful, especially the point guard who just about made the ball flat on one side with incessant, pointless dribbling. We were supposed to be pretty good this year and given our end of year losses next year looked to be a return to struggles. This has the look at this point of a 5 or fewer win season. I suspect it will e 0-5 before we get home games vs Tenn St and whomever. But do you really see a win on the road in December? Princeton at home? Even FDU could be favored. Desi being out hurts, but with all the supposed emphasis on recruiting a shooter, you'd think that there would be less than the horrific impact seen so far. As is clear I'm on the ledge already

Just back from the game. Best and only thing I can say that it was the biggest crowd of students seen in many years. The entire side opposite the team benches was filled...great support.
Also a nice turnout by Board posters. Sat with spcfan, 68grad, John and Cindy. Also in attendance and spoke with figgy, jchoops,Tommy Best and Gene O'Connell. We all pretty much agreed that we played with lack of intensity almost all game. That sort of changed with the double technicals on Fields and the Niagara player. First time we played with fire in our eyes and we came back.
In no way does this game leave me optimistic but I will say this... Marvin Dominique is one heck of a player, pro material. Second,it's only one game but I hope Tyler Gaskins gained confidence. Credit to him that he was on the floor practicing his shot almost an hour before anyone else showed up. Tyler has a great looking shot and does some other things well. One game is too early to tell but there is reason for hope with him. Also Chazz showed his potential...decent game.
Finally, spcfan mentioned it and I agree, Boone has no fear out there. No deer in the headlights look. The box score doesn't show it but the kid will be quite a player.
Well enough...just a very bad loss.

Bad loss. Too many negatives to enumerate in what should have been our most winnable conference game,so I will only point to one.I felt on many sets we were much too conservative letting the shot clock run down until only desperation alternatives were left. The sense of urgency that charaterized the spirited comeback has to be present earlier in the contests. That said ,I'll try to point out some positives in an otherwise dismal night. The crowd...great student support, vocal and largest in number since dawn game against Monmouth.Hope they come back. Marvin was excellent18 points 13 boards...we should have gone to him even more. Gaskins 16 points...14 in the second half. Please make this the rule not the exception. Boone showed life and athleticism,we need more of his and Fields energy throughout. Nice to see the hardcore faithful present . Off to Philly...12:30 Saturday and hope for turnaround. ( Funny, was gathering my thoughts and did not see OT's post above.Seems like we watched the same game )

Got to see game. Sat alone, feeling a little under. Well I hope to make Saturday, yes I still feel we will get better. Tonight hurt. Our shooting must improve. Chazz and Tyler shot well, later in game, they just have to stop second guessing themselves and hesitating, when they just shoot, good things happened. Marvin is a great player, nothing else to be said. Trevis had a couple nice rim finishes but struggled this game mightily. It happens, hope he'll shake it off. Mel came in and held his own. In regards to whoever said guards, sure he meant Wyche, dribble to much, many times they keep their dribble because guys are not moving. Our offense is in need of a jump start. Any player, team can have a few rough ones. Dennis got in but seemed a little lost. Boone will contribute. Don't count our guys out yet. They are still holding their heads high and I'm sure getting together for the next one. Wish I could have met some of you posters

newfan,if you're down in Philly stop by and say hello. Will probably be sitting behind the team bench with team family members.I should not be too hard to find amongst the few Peacock road warriors. At the home games many of the posters sit near mid court, opposite the benches four to six rows up.
