Amazing that everyone on the Niagara board are predicting a 9 point plus St. Peter's win. How bad can their team be? Let's root not for just a victory ( although most of us would take it ) but for a blowout. Wonder if we are capable of that....we'll see

The only thing that surprises me is that there is a betting line on the game . Given that OT and all the rest of the inner circle are privy to all that inside information not available to the general betting public , seems like the bookies are making themselves quite vulnerable which they have a tendency not to do . Then , you add in that these insiders have the tremendous advantage over the bookies and most of the general public of actually attending games in person and seeing a practice or two rather than watching them on tv or on the internet , the bookies are really setting themselves up as helpless prey . Sounds like it could be a problem for the program if those with any intelligence whatsoever do not realize it is all the ranting of a pompous ass who is so enamored of being considered an insider that he will dish out fodder worthy of an SNL skit .
I hope that all the Peacock players go out there tonight and give a great effort . I also hope that they go out there knowing that there are some fans who would not make the following statements - Peacocks " returning 4/5 starters meant little to me as I never thought those guys were that good " or " given what we had coming back I saw us little better than mid-tier " . Or do we believe that we must go zone because ' we only have one and maybe two good defenders ' . There are some of us who even believe that Desi might be a better shooter than Marv , and that is no knock on Marv whatsoever , rather just a belief of some fans that Desi can shoot the rock with the best out there .
Let's go Peacocks . It ain't about a bunch of us posters showing how smart or inside we are on a message board . It is indeed about the players and about a program rich in basketball tradition . Starting tonight , let's show opposing MAAC teams and fans and sadly some of our fans that we are not mid-tier , rather we have as much or more talent than any MAAC team .

junctionkid... what an ass! Forget how you don't have the guts to apologize (and that's OK with me) about the lying crap that you post centered around your supposed love of St. Peter's basketball. So let me clue you in to the facts.
As for myself, I'll mention Cindy later, I try not to be privy to any inside information. Have you ever heard me talk about recruits and who has and has not signed NLI's for example? I leave that up to you guys who read the various services. Nor do I go out of my way to pick JD's brain. We talk as friends and fellow coaches and I do my best to avoid prying just to post something on this Board. That's called ETHICS. For me I'd rather just observe and root.
But it's you who thinks he knows what is going on and jumping to irrational statements and conclusions. So just for your information I knew nothing about the Dennis situation... NEVER ASKED...some insider! All I knew and posted was that JD thought quite highly of him. Well, apparently Cindy read some of the "doghouse" garbage posted. Since he was at both the Brown and Hartford game, he asked the question and JD answered. However, unlike you, Cindy has some class and ethics. I assume that he felt that any pertinent information should come from the Coach and not Cindy. Like myself Cindy does not seek out "inside information" nor really wants it. He's a fan and despite your disingeneous wrapping yorself in our great Tradition he's a bigger fan than you will ever be. And, by the way, while old and live in New Jersey why not make an attempt to come to a game and root in person? Show us what a great Peacock fan you are or claim to be.
So the bottom line is that I seek little inside information, nor have I ever touted myself as an insider. My job is to Coach the Golf Team and root for the Basketball team. Anything else is another guess/lie/fabrication of your part. Anyway, I'm glad I touched a nerve. Says a lot about you to me.
As far as your posting is concerned, which by the way you once posted and said that you would never post on this Board again only to come back under a different posting name, post whatever you want. Just stop trying these sneak comments about myself. If you disagree with something I post just say so without all the additional personal comments. If, for example, you believe that Desi is a better shooter than Marv just say so...no big deal, it's a debateable point. Then, instead of knocking my personal opinion (and that's all it is) that we do not, as of yet, have top one on one defenders ,like last years Manhattan team, just disagree and post it without all that personal commentary. And if was my opinion that without Q reaching his potential and without some scoring out of the #3 position that we would be a mid-tier team, just disagree without your other bs.
Junctionkid...you don't know me and have never met me. Feel free to have your own opinion as I have now formed my final opinion of you. You are the "pompass ass" that didn't even have the courtsey to congratulate the Golf Team team on their MAAC Championship. That's OK but then go out and lie ( yes lie ) about my relationship with my players. Many on this Board may not know it but you are indeed older than I am but apparently age hasn't made you smarter or wiser. Just an old jerk. Your above post speaks for itself.

OT - Well said, accurate and certainly justified. I think I speak for more than myself when I express my appreciate for the information, analysis and support you give and share with this board. Unfortunately we have some who are afflicted with delicate sensitivities and egos, engage in the personal, preventing them from engaging in any fair and constructive discussion or debate.

I could not be more thrilled than to see such a fervent anti-Jesuit cast an unwavering vote for the other guy . Its fun to watch a few of you pat yourselves on the back so often .
But back to the much more important things in the fun and games part of our lives . Let's go Peacocks !

NU is very young and had a rough start at Pitt.
However, we’re going to be OK. We also play small due to injury but when Reid is back in rotation we should fine.
Me, I’m going with NU, 72-68.

A Daily Dose of Hoops has article on the internet about the Peacocks . In it , JD says that after the swelling goes down for Desi , he guesses it will be another couple of weeks for his return .

St. Peter's scored 20 points in the first half, at home against Niagara.
Tough to watch this offense.
Poor shooting, yes, but many of our shots are contested. Few open looks....
Very fortunately, only down 4.

I have the impression too few sets are running through Marvin.
No Purp can guard him, but we've yet to take advantage.

Purps hitting the offensive glass. Dare I say they are working harder so far this evening, IMO.
Very poor all around effort for SPU, still about 17 minutes left. Down 6

This half, Niagara is moving the ball around very well, making the extra pass and getting wide open shots. Of course, the fact they are hitting them helps. :-(
Purp ball movement, shooting and hustle are all superior so far tonight. Down 12! :-(

Another team building exercise. I am glad the faithful love the dynasty that is being built. Nine seasons and you can't beat a coach that was denied by great Stein who really did inherit garbage

Overall very poor effort for 35 minutes did us in. Purps got better shots, shot better, outhustled SPU for most of the game.
Spirited 5 minutes almost pulled out a win at home over the consensus MAAC cellar team, but no sugar coating this one....it was one sluggish effort and loss to a very poor club. Can't think SPU would have beaten many D 1 clubs with this type of performance.
It's November, not late February, so things can turn around, but I don't think any of us, or the coaches picking us fourth, or JC Hoops, or anyone else could have predicted how poorly we'd play in these first three games.
A particular concern of mine is Q's health. He looked rigid and stiff to me these past two games. I hope its rust and rehab can help. Guess we'll find out.
Back to the drawing board for our staff. Our guys were not ready to play tonight and the Purps took advantage.
