Add LaSalle to the Barclays Classic and, if I can recall, includes games with low majors; St.Francis Bklyn.,, Del. State and FDU. You also have Seton Hall and, if I stretch my memory further, might be Binghamton and Hartford to complete the OOC schedule.

SPU vs Non-Conference Opponents per Big Apple Buckets: at Brown (season opener), at Rutgers (BCC), at LaSalle (BCC), 2 home games vs Norfolk State/St.Francis Brooklyn/Tennessee State (BCC), FDU, @ Seton Hall, 12/10 Princeton.
Also at Hartford.

Nice local, rivalry-focused OOC slate. The Rutgers and Princeton additions are quite good and offer this years club a realistic chance to win and get some good local publicity.
Two Barclays games can only help recruiting.
Kudos to whoever put this together for SPU.

You've got to like our OCC Schedule. Some challenging teams, but nobody we need to be afraid of playing. Can't remember the last time we played Princeton. Maybe we can win the unofficial NJ Title.

They refer to it as the Barclay's Classic but we are actually in one of the "preliminary" round games with Rutgers hosting us at the RAC on Tuesday, Nov. 25th. Regardless of the outcome, only Rutgers gets to go to Brooklyn for a game with already designated opponents.

I prefer to think of it as the pre-season. I can't imagine SPC getting an at-large NCAA bid, so the only games that really count are in the MAAC.

Somewhat true ,but by that theory the only thing that matters is the last 3(or4)games---often the mantra in a losing season. But quality wins against name schools are important . They develop confidence and a measure of "learning"how to win. They help increase fan support ,which is important. They aid in recruiting and should you make it to the dance, quality wins would give you a better seed and thus a better chace for an upset. And they are FUN. Who doesn't enjoy beating a Rutgers or a Seton Hall, a Duke,Mich. St,UConn or an Alabama. I did.

I didn't mean just the tournament, I meant the whole MAAC season. I do agree though about how much fun those big wins were. Knocking off La (too-good-for-the-MAAC) Salle would be especially sweet. Maybe we can get Fordham on the schedule next year.

I am almost certain that the Barclay's is an exempt tourney which means that the four games count as one . If that is so , then we could play 11 non-MAAC games . It would be a shame not to take advantage of the opportunity . As vital as workouts and practices are , I think there is no substitute for actual games played for a team . Also , with the myriad of potential combos available to JD and staff , it would be great to see as much as possible of each player in different roles . But most of all , it would just give us fans more chances to see the Peacocks . I am often jealous of my baseball friends' having 162 games to see their team play every season . I am a baseball ( as well as just about any sport ) fan but seeing the Mets win the World Series pales to just watching the Peacocks win one regular season fray .

Mets World Series appearances are as rare an event as Peacock basketball NCAA appearances. I'm a long suffering fan of both.

SPC fan. Financial restraints hindering both Mets and SPU. I think the Mets have a much better chance of coming out of the financial dilemma than the Flock.
