6'6 Moussa Kone and 6'5 Kevin Douglas of FDAIII Academy in NYC
Douglas and Kone have played basketball together since fourth grade, so it’s only fitting that they’re both blowing up playing with the Metrohawks. The two are similar in body type, both long and lanky with exceptional leaping ability. Douglas’ offensive skills seem to be more advanced, while Kone is an animal blocking shots on defense and working the boards.
“That’s my brother,” Douglas said. “I know if I drive to left, he’s gonna be there for the kickout on the right side. I know if I go there and miss, he’s gonna clean it up.”
Kone says Iowa, Elon, St.Peter’s, UMBC and Stony Brook have shown interest, while Douglas counts St. Peter’s, Quinnipiac, Lehigh and Central Connecticut among his suitors. Bronx coach Bingo Cole has been extremely impressed with the twosome.

Another one bites the dust, but tough to compete with Hofstra.
Moussa Kone, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Frederick Douglass Academy III in The Bronx, didn’t subscribe to the notion, remaining at the PSAL Class B school when others may have looked elsewhere.
He was rewarded for his patience Saturday morning when he inked a National Letter of Intent with Hofstra University mere hours after verbally committing to the Hempstead, L.I., school.
“I take a lot of pride in that,” said Kone, whose stock rose the last few summers with the Metrohawks on the AAU circuit. “I’m one of the first ones to get a scholarship [from Class B]. It shows that anybody could get what they want if they strive for it.”
Damion Reid FDA III's Moussa Kone signed a National Letter of Intent with Hofstra on Saturday. Kone, who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds for FDA III last winter, added: “I can do what I love to do and get a free education at the same time. This is a moment that’s really important to me and everybody in my family is proud of me.”
Kone, who’s family is from the Ivory Coast, chose Hofstra over Manhattan, St. Peter’s and Stony Brook because of the bond he formed with the coaching staff and the comfort he felt with the program’s current players. He was close immediately with first-year head coach Mo Cassara and associate head coach Steve DeMeo, Kone’s lead recruiter.

Does anyone know if Lamin Fulton signed his LOI ? Came across summer report in which reporter had him among top guys in apparently strong group of players in all-star game -- ' with game hanging in balance , the 6' foot even guard had three straight hoops into triple teams which was very impressive . He also has automatic stop and pop jumper and can seemingly score at will ' . I guess height overstated since Lamin is reported at 5'9 , 5'10 in most places . And an all-star tilt where defenses may not be "tight" . But everything about this young man , on and off the court , is very impressive so I hope someone can report that LOI has been signed . It will be interesting to follow his senior year at N-G where rest of starters graduated .

jajk...know one was sent out and I assumed signed. Don't know more than that. Hopeful, that when Dan is free we will follow last years policy of announcing our signees for all sports. We are better at this than in the past but still very weak in publicizing our NLI signees. Let's see

oldtimer , thanks . I am very happy with all the improvements , big and small , that all in the SPC athletics department are making despite the odds . Kencast is excellent for those oldies among us that might not be able to make as many games as we used to .

Article about Lamin Fulton's upcoming season describes him as St. Peter's signee ; hopefully the word is not used loosely . NJHoops has piece now about 6'8 post Eugene McCrory but unfortunately we are not listed among those interested ( diverse group of Indiana , Wagner and others ) . I know getting a quality big is tough but hopefully Dunne can tell some recruit that he is the only missing piece to a top team for next Peacock edition . Maybe Lamin has a buddy from high school or summer circuit he can bring with him .

Fulton scored 14 in opening game loss to #10 Philly area Council Rock North. Neumann-Goretti ranked #7 in Philly area. They lost 4 starters from last years' team.
From PaPreps last year: Lamin is great kid who brings alot of energy to the floor every time he steps on it! I too love the way he plays! He plays both ens of the floor like there is no tommorrow. A direct quote from Jay Wright during a game last year " I Love this kid and the way he plays, if he was only 4 or 5 inches taller, we would be all over him"!

From a good Philly source: "Lamin is for real, will contribute year one." Kid is a blur, in the Jasper Walker mold. Needs to improve perimeter shooting to make him more effective in the drive and kick.
On the remaining 3 (or 4): Having missed out on many of our first level big man targets, appears now we are ready to extend some offers to our second tier. Amongst several is Eric Anderson, a 6'7" forward from Newark Tech. Kid can play inside and some out, has good hops, and said to be very coachable. Must get stronger and add bulk to compete at our level. Needs to further develop passing skills and offensive moves around the basket. Like Burke, don't expect much impact his first year.

I tend to agree with the assessments but I think there are reasons for the disappointing play and it is not entirely the fault of the players.
I think Wes, Nick, and Ryan need the ball in their hands to be effective. With the added self confidence of the other players, these guys are just not getting enough touches and shots. Add that fact to a ten player rotation and it makes the situation even more challenging for these guys to get the ball.
Ffrench has been force fed into action and his development has taken the ball out of both Wes' and Nick's hands. I expect the offense to get better as the season progresses and the rotation gets shorter.
As fans we can see that Belin is most effective along the baseline or in the lane slashing to the basket and Darius is most effective from 12-15 facing the basket. How come Dunne doesn't utilize them in a position that suits their strengths?

Recruiting: Samuels, Ffrench with a year under his belt, Prescott and Conley will form a pretty good nucleus moving forward....arguably, just as good as the core this season. Adding a READY TO PLAY effective (not even outstanding) front line player will keep SPC a first division club next season, as well. Not doing so.....the core will be wasted as the club will get killed on the glass. I am 100% certain the staff knows this and doubt (hope!) SPC will not have to rely solely on "second tier", not-yet-ready-to-contribute inside players next season. I sense a transfer/JUCO in the mix, out of necessity....class balance be damned. With the second semester not yet underway, keeping my fingers crossed we hear some good news re: a transfer sometime soon....

Fulton vs LaSalle HS
Fulton, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound combination guard, drilled three three-pointers en route to 19 points. Derrick Stewart, a 6-5 junior forward, equaled Fulton's point total, grabbed nine rebounds (four on offense), and made three steals.
"Derrick has been huge for us," Fulton said. "Because we have only two real big men, he's been playing a lot of minutes. And he's versatile, can score inside and out. That stretches a defense."
Fulton, headed for St. Peter's, shot 6 for 12 from the field (3 for 6 from beyond the arc) and 4 for 4 from the free-throw line.

Lamin with 10 assists and 6 points in NG blowout win yesterday . He may not have played a lot of minutes as NG apparently played entire squad .
