Folks, I just checked Sam Federman's MAAC portal. 75 players from the 13 MAAC schools (including SH and Merrimack) are in the portal. SP holding serve with only 2. Fingers crossed. That is 44% of scholarship athletes. How can any school, let alone a mid major conference, sustain that? imo the talent is spreading around. 3 and 4 stars are going to mid majors to build or fix draft profiles. While guys are heading out, access to guys who would have been forced to be depth and backups under the old rules are now free to look for minutes elsewhere. I mean look around the MAAC, some of these schools are getting really really good players. Imo Bash is built for this era, plus I fully believe he can grab some god talent while retaining much of the team. Also side-note, and idk if it's true for these players but in general when you see a player enter the portal it's not always their choice. This era also makes it easier for new or returning coaches to treat the roster like a pro league. Some of these top level talents are leaving because of non basketball things or because the coach feels they don't cut it for whatever reason. so while mid majors might not retain too many great players (tho I think honest and talented coaching will sway a player all the time), the idea is that a good run might advertise better talent anyway.

I learned today although I won’t say how other than I believe it is solid that staff is trying to get an extra year for Reid. Also had recruits on campus this week and obtained one transfer commitment. Staff working hard. Didn’t go into other players other than not having further portal losses as yet

Thanks for the update Figgy. Would love to see Reid back for another year. Just to clarify is the transfer in addition to Morris from Miami Ohio that was just announced?
Also looks like Clarence Rupert about to make a decision. My educated guess is he is between going back to Southern Illinois or Iona (barf)

Folks, Ruprecht (from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) has officially made my PurWho and Kaintucky list. I loved Ruprecht in the NCAAT and he hit a crucial 3. When he played at SIU I saw him play a few times in person and several on TV. In my opinion, SIU's pigeon-towed bow-legged coach (now fired) didn't use him correctly. Perhaps since the pigeon-towed bow-legged coach was shown the door, Ruprecht had a decision to make. I'm sure it came down to NIL, but I cant believe Iona has more NIL than someone else. Hopefully SP signs a Ron Artest type guy with sharp elbows and welcomes him back to the RBR.

I might have a more regular access now for strange reasons. I hope to. find out about a few other players like oumar. Didn’t ask about him or Clarke but everyone else is on board. Still don’t know if we can only replace the portal losses or if there is some extra space that needs to be addressed. Would like to find out about tinsleys condition as well. Again staff is working hard against long odds ugh
