Tonight is a good example of why we can be hard to play against. Points from 8 different players - 2 in double digits and 2 others with 9. We need better plan vs press esp side out plays. Don’t know why we don’t use bigs to help vs press but just having guards try to get angle on their man to receive pass and then getting trapped won’t work and our to numbers show it. Needs to get cleaned up. But when was the last time we won bc of ft line? Iona looks like a Maac team for the first time in living memory. Washington and zeigler showing that they are “all” candidates. Reid and Clarke were under great pressure all night and did just enough to keep gaels at bay. Sow needs to be stronger with the ball and just more confident and assertive. Roberts giving us just enough. Bland had a good night but sometimes it looks like he’s playing in skates. Getting better as a team though. Sunday will be another tough one but except for Siena the Maac is anybody’s to be had so why not us? Just got to keep playing hard on defense and the boards and trust that we will find enough points from our entire roster

A couple observations on players. Hogue appeared to be injured and didn’t return, not sure if he will be available tomorrow. I found it odd Randolph didn’t get any time last game or last night then gets put in with a minute left in the game. Rotation really tightened up, went with basically 8 then 7 because oh Hogue injury. Washington, Reid, and Bland all logged over 33 minutes with a quick turnaround tomorrow.

Figgy, well said. Dribbling into a trap is a death knell to break the press. It is an easy fix and if SP figures it out, they very well could be a 16 win team in the MAAC. However, great start with the sweep and a big win v In Tobin We Trust. Moreover, if SP does solve the press, look for them to keep this trend of scoring 68+ points, which is huge.
Youngalum, GMTA. I was going to ask if Randolph has joined Diahame in "the cone of silence" as Cindy has coined. I watched the game but didn't realize Hogue was injured.
MSM Sunday. My hunch, SP -5/130. Go Peacocks!

Key sequence from last night…Iona cuts it to 8 and the Peacocks quickly push the ball up court and Washington gets a quick score. Iona then inbounds and Clarke comes up with a key steal. Never allowed the Gaels to keep momentum.

On the negative side, while reading about game I saw attendance was 600. I come from 57-61 years when we played in Armory and had crowds in the low thousands and a good percentage of crowd were students. I know this is the "rant" of an old man and there are many, many changes in the city, school population, facilities, etc., but it's a shame that team which is doing well at the beginning of the year gets so little attention from students. I know it's "break time" but that didn't prevent us from going to game. I would be there more myself, but spend winters in Florida and it's a tough commute.

Jack, very small crowd at the MSM game too. Handful of students in attendance. It is very disappointing to say the least.

15-2 run by MSM. No intensity. On their heels. No sense of urgency. Come on!
