Looks like Marist and msm are emerging as bona fide contenders. Also noted that bucknell just whipped Penn state and our next 2 Maac games are Iona and msm. Add dukes and umbc and we will be really battle tested early. But right now enjoy

Tough as nails. Offense is overrated.
Hopefully we get better at shooting and fouling less. Long season but 2-0 at the start of the MAAC season. Can’t remember ever starting that way.

Dreamweaver, to expand on your point, the last time SP swept in Buffalo was the 2016-2017 season. I'm sure you folks remember that season. CIT Champs. Omen for bigger and better things?? Cutting down on fouls is HUGE. There is no better team in the MAAC than SP. Go Peacocks!

Cutting down on fouling looks improbable. Mason teams, whether at Wagner or here, are always national leaders . The aggressive style that he coaches lends itself to that. Also when you play as many players, few are restricted by their personal foul numbers. We literally have fresh bodies with which to foul. Io Pavo

Implausible win after witnessing a frustrating first half. We could characterize by no offensive flow, with only Reid able to attack with the basketball. Washington is better suited for the inside. Bland can not pass, has poor handle. Sow gets manhandled when he plays the middle against a stronger opponent.
Things changed in the second half. We maintained our aggressive and effective defense. Robert’s continued to surprise, defensively; rebounding, shot blocking. We added some balance to the offense. Still, Reid is not an outside shooter, neither is Washington. Maybe a bit raw but, given our stagnant offense, Ziegler needs to be given a bigger role in the offense.
We’ve shown to be a competitive team and should match up well in the MAAC. Strong mid-majors however will dominate us. Be mindful also, we beat a short handed team missing their top two players today.

It pains me to say this, but very astute. While Washington is very good for us, his range in not 3 point. His performance at NJIT was obviously misconstrued that he was. Do like Roberts over Sow, The real problem is the blueprint Canisius confirmed on how to beat us. Some days we may have lights out shooting and we win. But how the miniscule pressure applied by Canisius in the last minute showed we DON'T handle any pressure. A prior analysis on Canisius was accurate on why they were not going to press, but when needed it almost gave them the win. Bland is an enigma. A streak shooter he put us in a position to win, but whose passes through bad judgement are subject to disruption by fast defenders. Wonder why Perkins didn't see the light of day. I like Wood but not sure what his deficiency is to not use him as much. Has to be defense.

what's crazy about the MAAC is the early season doesn't matter at all... you just need to get hot for four days at the right time of year. Not sure a MAAC team is getting a serious look anytime soon as an at-large unless some school got a crazy talent boom. just get ready for AC - the regular season has become pre-season practice.

Poster here reported Oumar was suited up Sunday. One small bit possibly significant step.
If Oumar can man the primary minutes at center by February, would be a huge plus defensively. Won’t need to depend on him to be a consistent scorer, but his ability to defend the middle and rebound from the “5” position is unquestionably the best on our roster.
If Ziegler can become consistent during the second half of his freshman season, we just may have a viable formula to be in the top half of the 2023-2024 MAAC.
