Women win SPU 63- LIU 54 good game. Congrats on win number two ! In the MAAC ,I think we’ll see a few more. But Has anyone tried to read about the game on the website ? I don’t know which is worse, when the stories weren’t being written or now ! The story is so poorly written it is an embarrassment to the university. Ps85 pointed out the incongruity of the word corduroy in the article… what on earth is that ?

Anyway, as you state so well, work needs to be done by the University to produce better content.

Not sure what article you are referring too but site articles always emphasize the positive. They don't try to dissect the game, only praising the performance. I read the one on the site and saw no problem with it and could not see any corduroy word. Now if you watched the game there was quite a lot of deficiencies. They have the same problem as the men in that they have little half court game. For their height they are poor rebounding. They truly only have one reliable three point shooters but rain don 3 as is if all the players are good at that. And it looks like they are coached to that style. They have better players than the past but are a far cry from being competitive in the MAAC. Two are freshman and the other a soph so growth is highly probable. They will win a couple more games but true improvement will depend on the development of Leedham. She's learning.

Peacock , the article referenced was the one on the Liu game . You obviously got there late ,and someone from the school obviously is reading this board because the article has since been cleaned up a bit and the “corduroy “ error has subsequently been edited out of the fourth paragraph.

It's funny you folks mention corduroy, I read it too, I was thinking how I was styling and profiling in HS in my 3 piece corduroy suit. Slick.

Women win 51-42. Go Peacocks! Good win for the ladies. It wasn’t that long ago that a game against Marist was a sure loss.

Watched many women's games and was getting pretty disappointed. Basic problem was the offense shooting as many threes as they could. Limited sets for inside despite having decent height. Same thing occurred in the Marist game, but it appeared Marist had the same issue. Real problem is they have poor passers in general. Slow and telegraphed. On the bright side they have three potential high MAAC players. Two sophs in Sunday and Leonard and one freshman in Janneh. Janneh likes to take the three and Leonard would not turn down one constantly looking. She is the better shooter but also decent on penetration. Janneh is top draw and can have her way against a few teams. Don't know if this is the game plan but more inside game will be necessary if they are going to compete. Without prejudice I expect them to get rolled by Niagara who are considered the best team in the conference. The woman will win a few more games as I think there are three more teams they will be competitive with. They could be a superior rebounding team in the MAAC. Another player who was missing, Williams a junior is pretty good but injured. When healthy should give this team more potential. Only hope the three point strategy is not Jen's

Just a FYI, the Kean University athletic site lists the game against SPU as an “Exhibition” game.

Kean University is a Division III team, so I can understand it being an exhibition game. Wish we could have scheduled a decent Division I team. At this stage of the season we don't need to be playing exhibition games.

Probably doesn’t matter much in the big picture but I believe it will count as a regular season game for SP. Pretty sure in the past I’ve seen these games where teams are in two different divisions where one can count it as an exhibition and the other can count it towards their record.
If there’s anything Katie can do to immediately appease the handful of diehards, it’s finding a way to build the OOC schedule for next year without any non-D1 opponents.

I'm not sure if you watched the Siena game last night, but they have issues. Durugordon, by far, is their best player. The Siena board is in free-fall. To me, Marist looks like the team to beat. Rider plays at Delaware tonight and really has been a mystery to me. SP by sweeping the Buffalo swing has really set themselves up for a successful year. Go Peacocks!

Latigo, nothing makes me happier than seeing Siena at the bottom of the standings. Makes me giddy inside. 😂 Siena is my PurWho. 😆

Speaking of Siena, I have a stat that will floor you. It floored me. Siena's last 17 games, 2-15. The 2 wins, won by a total of 4 points. (I have to give credit to the Siena board for that statistic).
My statistic, of those 17 games, Siena averaging 60.7 points. Opponents 75.9. If someone would have told me that, I would have called them Fibber McGee. That is extraordinary.

Furthermore, Siena last 8 MAAC conference games, 1-7 and 63.4 - 73.0. WOW. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
