I agree with p-pride. I'll take KC back and can't wait for the season to start. I don't fault KC if he believed going to a higher level program could set him up well for a professional career. He can obviously play professionally after leaving the U as we all know.

Agree with Loyal peacock pride and ps85. Thrilled to have KC back. In today’s college world you must live in the present. NDefo is a game changer- two time defensive player of the year who by the end of last season was scoring consistently inside in the 20 range. His shot blocking allowed our guards to gamble up top on defense. I don’t believe you trade an all MAAC talent for the hope that given time one of the other big men will emerge as a significant contributor and then decide that he’s going to stay

I agree as well Cindy. Big question is can SHA develop one or more of the bigs so that KC may be able to play a forward spot at times ,rather than center.I think with the depth we have now we may go back to our system of 2 years ago where we played 10 or 11 guys regularly and were very deep. Cant wait to see the new bigs.

Count me in as delighted to have KC back. But thinking back to last season, one of our big problems was lack of shooting from the wing position. While I am hopeful, I’m not sure we fixed that weakness. We seem to have a roster with great redundancy but little balance. Hope one of the twins steps up to fill our need.

Great to have KC back and cannot hold anything against him for testing the waters. To be quite frank, if I was in his shoes I might have done the same thing. Love having a player back of his caliber....he is a warrior and gives 101% on the court. Will be in the Peacock's Hall of Fame.

For the record, I'm very enthusiastic about the team roster. When was the last time we had three 6'7' proven forwards and three 6'10" centers, plus several very capable guards? I think we will be very competitive.

We didn’t do much in recruiting to address the need but my hope is that the answer is internal. With a bigger frontline, a normal off season program, and the team being back on campus for practice hopefully Edert and Lee can get back to what they were freshmen year when they were two of the best shooters in the conference.

Exactly pride.Totally agree with your take. Edert was way off last year trying to play through a foot injury which had to affect his shot.As juniors now I expect all three guards Lee,Banks and Edert to be much improved. Hopefully we see a step up from Silvera or some contribution from one of the newcomers,Reid or Bland at guard.
Bland looks like he can shoot on videos though the competition level was weak and Reid looking at his high school videos from Peddie displayed a shot as well.Pedidie plays a national type prep schedule. Also he's 6-3 and looked pretty athletic in videos of one of the drills posted on line. Played high level JUCO ball his frosh year at Coffeyville where he got 20 minutes a game as a freshman point guard.Hard to make any assumptions until we see them play live.
The core of the returning nucleus of 6 players all the three aforementioned guards plus the twins and now KC all of them playing for their 3rd straight year together is very strong and many here seem to discount the value of a veteran core which was now supplemented by 4 players from 6-8 to 6-11 in height. Unheard of at SPU previously.

Following up on my last post remember when we have put together a strong returning veteran core we have been contenders in the MAAC.Both the 91,95 as well as the 2011 MAAC champions were led by a veteran core that had been together a few years.Cant discount the value of the experience playing together .

Throw the 2017 team into the mix as well. Didn’t win the MAAC, went on to win the CIT, and could probably make an argument that was Dunne’s best team.

Although I favor the 2011 Team I agree with Pride about the 2017 team. Except for some fluky game ending plays and a missed free throw from an almost 90% free throw shooter (well documented previously ) it hurts to think that , that Team could have / should have won a MAAC Championship.. Iona was very lucky to have survived.. The CIT Championship healed some but the MAAC Championship loss still sticks in my mind.

I think you have your years mixed up. The Turner missed free throw was in 2019, Sha’s first season. We blew halftime leads against Iona in 2017 and 2018.

We were up 9 in the second half of the 2017 against Iona. Were favored in the game.
An uncharacteristic 17-0 run against us did us in.
2017 was the only time we’ve ever been favored in a MAAC semi final or final game. One that got away for sure.

Referencing the 2017 MAAC semi final. Ouch!
Got good shots but Portley and Nick were off their game. Travis played vert well in a losing effort.
