Dave Bryngil is a good guy and hard worker. Not AD material and I think he is just doing the school a favor. Question is who will take on Dave's other pretty big responsibilities. Result will be treading water for at least 6 months or more. Thought they would have asked, and probably did, Jim Jacobsen. Jim did a great job in his role as interim AD two years ago. Probably nearing retirement plus knowing both the commitment and headwinds that the job entails, Jim would have probably if asked. declined.
An extremely competitent young lady, Kati Accuri would have been a perfect choice. Jacobsen relied on her a great deal when he filled in. Problem is that Kati is our Compliance person and very difficult to replace in that roll...to bad, she deserves some recognition.
The open question once the search begins is what type of candidate will be chosen. The Administrators talk about changing the culture but they had two short lived AD's ( Pat Eliott and Boe ) who were capable of doing this but the Administration never put their money where their mouth was. Created more problems than solved. Now who would want this job? Probably will go to someone whose main efforts will be to keep things running as is. Not a visionary but a bureaucrat no matter what the hype or publicity will tell us.
A few random comments. At the Athletic Department's Golf Outing our president was a no show for the dinner and I've only seen him at one basketball game. Tells you something? Also at the Mass of the Holy Spirit which opens the school year, attendance is probably 60 percent athletes and their coach's, some Administrators from the school and a very, very small turnout of Faculty...each and every year.

Was at the Iona game. Hoped that the lively crowd would help influence him. Guess not!

Pat Elliott was a top flight AD. Boe's early efforts were very encouraging.
The best (probably only) chance for positive change @ SPU involves the BOD replacing the current administration.
Until that happens, we who hope for Athletic Department improvement are urinating up the proverbial rope.
Sad.

Just spoke with Debbi Gregory our very competitent Finance person in Athletics and a friend of Boe's. Called her about Golf Team business. Didn't want to pry but asked if she had spoken with Boe. Debbie said yes, last night.
I didn't follow up but told Debbie that I had emailed Boe last night wishing her the best. Debbie then told me that within 10 minutes of Boe returning to her office after her meeting with Cornacchia, Boe's e mail at St. Peter's was terminated. Never even gave Boe a chance to communicate or say goodbye to her staff, coach's or athletes. Quite unheard of and extremely vindictive. Must have been one hell of a meeting. Things are now being swept under the rug as usual. Tells me a lot.

Unfortunate. This kind of stuff is what makes getting athletes here. If you were a recruit after hearing about how athletics doesn't seem to be a priority would you sign on. Bet turns a few away. Wonder if any athletes will seek transfers, not just basketball either. Who wants to really represent a school that doesn't care. The coaches care, teammates care, fans care but if the school doesn't most athletes say why go there nothing will be better, nothing will make a difference. Sad affairs at SP

According to the Athletics staff directory, Dave Bryngil of the Rec Center is now the interim director of athletics....can't make this stuff up. I went to school with Dave (graduated same year). Nice guy and really cares about SPU. But, he's in a tough position and will just act as caretaker until a new AD is hired.

Boe does have at least one Twitter account - @boepearmanad. I sent her a message yesterday after the news surfaced and have not received a response. I don't expect to but I'm sure with social media today, someone could find a way to get in touch with her should they so desire.

Tried to call Boe on her cell about two hours ago. No answer and her message box was full. Plan to give her some time and then try again after the New Year. Good job again machb59. Just wanted her to know that there were some of us who cared and appreciated her effort

Rumors are flying that she was indeed fired. Strong possibility that Cornacchia bought the school a good lawsuit. If I am not mistaken this was a scheduled meeting with an agenda. You don't fire someone over an agenda, you have to have cause. So anyone wonder what contrivance EC will come up. Was she over budget, and if so why wait until a scheduled meeting to chop her head off. One would have thought they would discover that when they found the shortfall. One doesn't get fired for being over budget. Was she insubordinate. Considering the nature of the school, just taking your salary could be considered insubordinate. Much like Quinlan who went into a meeting and got turned down on hisrequests, I am sure Boe got turned down, but most likely put up a fight. Most likely EC refuses to spread the cuts around and fired her. This was not a planned action. This was incompetence at the highest level by EC.

All is, of course, speculation but I agree with some of what has been posted. So let me give some uninformed speculation.
1) Doubt if Boe was overspending. The CFO keeps a tight eye on this. Wish he would have done so with our $1.1 millon dollar deficit, now $1.8 million. But I'll defer to loyal on this, I like his take.. In fact, as part of our Coach's meeting last week. Boe talked of what was currenty expected from Athletics. As of now the figure was $93,000, verified at the meeting by Debbi our Finance person.. When one of the Coach's asked where we stood now, Debbie's response was that we were almost fully compliant.. Bottom line was that we were quick to comply and probably ahead of schedule.
2) Boe was frustrated not only with the way she was being treated but Athletics in general...the redheaded step child. She made me privy to some specifics but asked me for it to remain between Boe and myself. I'm sure some like Debbi and perhaps some others she trusted also know. So I will keep her trust but what I heard was almost unbelievable. This was about two weeks ago on one of my trips to campus. Boe was clearly upset and frustrated but remained calm. However, one could tell that all this was affecting her.. Guess her instincts were right.
3) No inking of this was evident at the Coach's meeting which was last week right after her morning meeting with the either the Athletic Board ( which has no power ) or the BOT. I don't know which. Then yesterday I went over to school to meet with my Head Coach, Nick Dilio and turn in some golf paperwork. That was about 11:30 AM. Didn't see or talk with Boe but everything seemed OK. Was on the road ( Jersey Turnpike ) when about 2PM Debbie called to tell me Boe had resigned. Those were her exact words.
Now as peaockpride wrote that unless you were in the room who knows what happened. There's even an outside chance that Boe was called in to tell her that she was fired. Also possible, that given what was happening, Boe asked to speak with Cornacchia. I don't know and as pride said really not all that important. But as for me I would prefer to believe that Boe took once last chance things got heated and she told him off. Not like Boe to go like a meek little lamb. And judging by the president's announcement which I quoted earlier he struck back. Had to have ended very badly.
Reminds me of the story which some oldtimers know between our legendary coach and Athletic Director Don Kennedy and a Jesuit named Fr. Boland. Kennedy was so upset that he was alienated from the school for years until good guy Bill Stern brought him back into the fold. Reminised about this incident with Fred Cranwell at last years Hall of Fame dinner

To show you how petty the higher ups are...there was a write up posted on the website a week ago about Boe being honored when the women's team played at Maryland. To be honest, at the time I didn't really see the need to post this on the website as it was basically Boe being on the video board and a one paragraph write up on her time at Maryland - more a recognition than an honor. That article has been removed from the website, although it still comes up if you Google search it. Just takes you to a broken link if you click on it. Disgraceful...
Part of me thinks that this was planned for some time. We all know how slowly things move at SP. In order to have an interim AD in place less than 24 hours after Boe left tells me someone had a heads up it was coming. Again, no insider knowledge, but just putting the pieces together.
Newfan- I doubt that this will have any effect on athletes transferring. Most student athletes have little day to day interaction with an AD as opposed to if a coach left. If you're an athlete at SP, it is probably very evident that the school doesn't prioritize athletics. Most have friends and former teammates that play for other schools - they know what their friends have and SP doesn't. Boe leaving doesn't really change much in that regard in the short term. As long time fans, we recognize the changes that she made in a short time, but in the big picture they are a very small percentage of what needs to be done to catch us up in a lot of areas.

Not a big contributor, but I am a frequent visitor. I am hearing without a doubt she was fired. From a Board of Trustee. Not sure why yet but the replacement search is well under way.

" So let me give you some uninformed speculation . " Oldtimer , there was really no need to preface your most recent effort in this manner . It becomes quite evident , quite early in your every post .
