Just heard about 2PM today, our Athletic Director Boe Pearman resigned. Big, big loss for Athletics as she was beginning to turm things around. A tireless worker whose heart and skills were in the right place...Athletics. Makes everything else, to me, including what I posted above seem trivial. No further comment

Boe, who was trying hard and injected a level of professionalism, leaves.
A CFO who can't calculate f***ing depreciation stays.
No more checks from me.

Boe's departure should underscore and serve to answer all the detractors that like to attack individuals and their ability to perform against peers with overwhelming advantages. Only the dumb of the dumbest among us, and most know who we speak, would argue that it is not the resources that bring us to where we are. No gentlemen, it is institutional in nature and cause, and only a savior far beyond us may ever hope to cure.
On second thought, maybe it's just easier to blame the Russians.

Boe Pearman had us headed in the right direction working with one hand tied behind her back. We just hired her in 9/15 and now she's already gone in 12/16.....that's 15 months!! Something is awry. She made some tough personnel decisions which I think were for the good of our Athletic Department. Sometimes you have to step on some toes to get things done and she wasn't afraid to do it. I think she was a results oriented person who probably got tired of fighting the Administration for support. Don't know the circumstances.....just my guess. She will be missed. Hope we don't dilly dally in hiring a replacement.

Leave it to our right-winger to bring politics to the discussion . His second thought is that Putin is a good guy who we , I guess , blame wrongly for hacking our democracy and murdering innocents in Syria . We know our resident Rand apologist's first thought - that the Jesuits are the evil ones . Let's not even contemplate what this character's third thought might be .
I guess it is okay for our future leader to ask Vlad to hack his opponents . I guess it is okay for posters on a college message board to accuse a former player of serious violations without any foundation , any specifics , any substance because it might supposedly support his latest harangue . SAD

junctionkid...what a jerk and a**hole you are. You referred to my post so for your informationm I'll reply. I didn't post any additional specifics because I didn't want to further embarass the players involved. Now you imply that I fabricated both stories. It is you and Peacock who fabricate stuff. So without naming names there were two seperate and unrelated incidents. One involved a gun or one which looked like one ( it was plastic ). The player was warned several times but continued his actions. The second involved a car breakin...dismissal. Is that enough specifics for you? The players were dismissed by the Administration. Had nothing to do with Coach Dunne as Peacock ranted about at the time.
Now for the good people on this board, I was not privy to the eventual disiplinary actions and only know about the above from those who did know and were part of the process.
So junctionkid go shove it where the sun doesn't shine and stop playing on your great love for SP and our athletes. Your ethics are an embarassment as a graduate of our school.

Reading the above posts about Boe leaving I can only say that those posters get it! Sure Boe was tough but she always wanted the interests of Athletics at heart. And she was stymied at every turn. We lost someone who was beginning to turn things around. We lost a real winner. Big, big loss for Athletics and for a lot of Coach's personally

I'm sorry to hear that Boe resigned. This speaks volumes about where the school is headed. Obviously the administration is about to cut back on athletics, cut budgets, probably take back appearance fees etc.and revert back to our direction under the Loughran days.I truly fear the worst here. I wonder who will want the job at this point when they obviously want a rubber stamp yes man.

Just catching up on all the news and I cannot express how disappointed I am in this turn of events. Boe's resignation is truly a huge loss. I know how a few athletes felt about her and they could see the positive changes she was making. We were headed in the right direction and now take a major step backwards. SPU needs to decide if it wants to be a Division 1 school. If the commitment is not there from the powers that be, then they need to drop down. Another thought is for the BOT to make changes at the top. We need leadership that understands how to run a Division 1 university.

Proud of many of the posts and posters. You are true SP fans. Even though most only saw a glimpse of what was starting to be accomplished...some full time coach's, filling open administrative positions which had been dormant for years, doing what she could to put a different face on Athletics at SP, not to mention that Boe was at each and every game to support our teams. I wasn't for her in the initial search process but I quickly became a fan. Can't emphasize how much we lost. And as loyal and a few others said it's amazing how some people still have their positions while the good go. Sadly the history of SP.

Wow....just got home from worked and am stunned to hear that Boe resigned. It just goes to show the administration is just looking for someone to toe the company line and maintain the status quo. Very unfortunate and with the news that the college is in a deficit after more ineptitude I fear for the worst.

peacockpride...just read your response ( and the others ). Even though we have had some differences ( not all ) basketball wise your response shows a true understanding and a class act. Even though I try to stay out of the politics at the school and usually work out of my own office at home then at SP, I do know more than I can print. Not worried about my status ( could care less ) but it's not for me to be the town crier.
All I can tell you is that the Athletics budget has been cut about 7% while some other parts of the school apparantly remain untouched. Don't know the details or to what extent that number is correct but that is what the email to all employees stated today.
Finally, more than toe the company line we have incompetents at the highest level ( see Loyal's post ).

A 7% cut!! I'm reminded of the movie Major League "What's left to cut!" Good for Boe I have even more respect for her now that she resigned. Didn't want to stay and work for an administrator that makes it impossible to succeed. Cornacchia sucks plain and simple. I've given him the benefit of the doubt because I don't know all the inside stuff that goes on but he's been no better than Father Loughran.

Here are some of the relevant points from the long email sent out to all University employees. The letter was from our president
" I am pleased to report that last Wednesday, Dec. 14 , the Board of Trustees approved the revised FY 2017 Operating Budget recommended by the Strategic Planning Committee and the president...the Committee elected not to reduce instructional expenses and to minimize reductions impacting enrollment priorities. All other departmental expenses are being reduced by at least 7 %..."
Several points
1) Boe met with the Board of Trustees last week. I know that because she had delayed our monthly coach's meeting. I'm reading between the lines but I can only imagine how she felt when hearing that some expenses would not be cut but Athletics would. As stated above, there were no "across the board cuts" but selective ones which included Athletics.
2) Wonder who is on this Operating Budget Committee and the Startegic Planning Committee, but I could guess.
3) No formal announcement has been made. Perhaps tommorrow
4) Hope Boe got some form of severence pay but have no idea
5) Guess someone within the school will act as Interim but would expect the search process to last several months, at a minimum. Savings in salary for the school.
6) You can't make this stuff up! Unbelievable yet believable for SP
