Important test for the Peacocks. Siena at home is a game SP can win. I am not one who believes the team has quit. No team or player goes at it physically and mentally 100% of the time, perhaps with the exception of Yvon, every day for seven months. If that were true ,you wouldn't see upsets . It's just that when a talent challenged team, like ours, has an off night the implication is that they have thrown in the towel. I wonder what our fan base of ten, maybe twenty, would say if they were among the thousands who follow Siena at the Times Union Center. Why should they not be able to put an elite MAAC team out every season? They have the facility to attract athletes,a monopoly on sport fan and media interest in the Albany area, and enough fans to put pressure on their administration to do something by withholding financial support. We have none of the above. Their record is 6 and 18. I urge our faithful to come out tomorrow and judge for yourself whether the men have quit or not. We neither have enough size or shooting skills to win many, but I believe this one is possible against a real underachiever. There are no NFL games tomorrow, parking is not a problem on Sundays, the roads will be clear, and it should be a remedy for cabin fever. Be there .

Well said Cindy! No need to elaborate. Your message comes through loud and clear.
I'll just repeat my observation from the recent Manhattan game. Sitting with Cindy, Desi's parents and Elias' uncle, all I heard were fans cheering the players and team on. Impressed me. Let's do the same tomorrow.

Cindy. Can always count on you for the "fair and balanced".
Wish we were half of what Siena spends on athletics. If we had the money maybe we could get Mitch.
Have a suggestion to improve recruiting.......hire the Admissions Director at Iona.

Nice offensive flow to the game....32-30 Siena with two minutes to go in the half.
Last year, the Conley/Anosike debate was a fair and reasonable one. This year, not so much. OD a one man team for the Saints today. OD has really developed his offensive game this season, relative to prior years. He has significantly improved, with little talent around him.

Siena shooting 63% for the half and is up 7. High shooting percentage basically due to Anosike abusing the Peacocks at will inside. OD has 16 points and 7 boards at the half. Collapsing D leaving Siena perimeter shooters wide open. Zero defensive intensity for either club, though OD would be a tall order even if our D was better.

No quit in the team. No crowd in the stands. No action on this board after a win. Must be ice dancing or bowling on the tube.
Nice balanced team effort to win. Great adjustment to shut down OD after a monster first half. Refs do give him a lot of leverage with that left arm.

loyal, with respect, you should never be an announcer. What you see and descibe was just not happening. Zero defensive intensity for us in the first half??? Guess you and the rest of us, present were watching different games! And where was your posting and commentary in the second half?
Now to be positive. Good adjustments by team (and especially JD) in the second half. Went to zone and shut OD down,,,also rotated players on him ( Conley, Desport, Tucker) throughout to give him tired legs.
Went to a zone trap with Chris Burke in the back, picking of and deflecting passes. When they broke the press we then settled back into our 2/3 and occassional 1/3/1 zone.
Best coaching move of all was placing Chris Burke, at the foul line offensively to shoot, drive or pass. Thought it made quite a difference in our offense. Now if Chris would take more than a handful of shots per game we'd really have some player.
Also, did the TV or radio pick up JD urging his team on all game. As spcfan pointed out the words JD was shouting was "intensity, intensity".
Amazing how some are quick to criticize, and that is fair game on a message board but where is the praise and congratulations when both players and coach perform well? Some of us should re-read Cindy's post...there's a big message in that post.
Anyway congrats to players and coach, well done.

The offensive flow today was very good, maybe the best i've seen this year. Quick passing on the perimeter with delivery of the ball to the post low towards the corner for a shot or dish to a cutter.Nice adjustment by the staff to create better flow in the half court from what we saw the other night.
Nice job by the coach changing defense to a zone in the second half with a 3/4 court trap. Basically took 10 seconds off each Siena possession before they could get into their half court offense. Nice use of the 2/3/ zone and the 1/3/1 zone in varying posessions to confuse the Saints create some turnovers and the zone really seemed to neutralize Anosike in the second half.Glad to see we incorporated some trapping defense into the plan. Seems to make the guys play with more of a sense of urgency on each possession.
J.D. was very animated on the bench today constantly yelling energy to the team and play with a sense of urgency. No quit in the coach or the team.Nice win over a team we all love beating due to their arrogant fan base.
On to Rider where we will face a much tougher test Thursday.

NIce win today; now on to Rider. Good job by the coaches and players. Got to give them a lot of credit for hanging there. Good luck the rest of the way.

No question about this team's desire. Never thought they quit or mailed it in, though I did not see the dismal road games. Marist game was a grinder, and tho I only saw 2nd half today, it was maybe the best half they played all year, or at least since Iona. Anyone want to trade Dunne for Mitch??? With Onisike on the court he makes no use of him to break SPU pressure and lets his smallish guards struggle rather than bringing OD to high post and create 3 on 2 or 3 on 3 going to goal and turns 7 pt lead to 10 pt L. Thanks again Mitch. Also as side note, remember Ferguson "incident"? Today after Fergie goes down but is obviously unhurt, just really slow getting up, JD yells Get UP and Fergie hustles back afterward. I think that gives some insight into the team dynamic. Maybe he won't do something in 5 seconds if it can take six and must be constantly hounded and reminded of what to do and when and only responds to in your face messaging. It's instructive that JD rarely does it and only seems to do it with 1 player, maybe a player that has to be handled in that way. Good win somewhere jajk is smilig

Nothing like a win to right the ship. Hopefully, we can build on this win and have a respectable end to this season. Great foul shooting by Washington, especially in crunch time going 10-10 on the day. What a difference it makes when we make some foul shots.

Was busy organizing the "Free Bob Menendez" campaign. :-) Actually, had to bolt about five minutes into the second half. Followed progress on Blackberry. Better to win than lose. Happy for the seniors. Hope they can get a win up in MA during the Tourney. Yvon is a warrior. To keep it in perspective, with Marist now at full strength, MAAC #9 and #10 seeds were playing yesterday. Siena posters declaring they have hit "rock bottom". Again, better to win than lose, but no need to back away from the table after this win, guys. Wyche went for 12 yesterday against St. B's the best team in NJ, as St. Peter's Prep was down 27 in Q3 and lost by about 15. Trevis will likely matchup, against Kavon Stewart (Robert Morris) and the #2 in the State Hudson Catholic Hawks in the Hudson County Semis or Finals in a few weeks. Must see hoops for the optimists among us.
