Here’s hoping Perkins likes it here. I see cian medley and lance ware in the portal. Tahron Allen from Wagner also there and Ansley alomodor from fdu who had a career game vs us this year also there. Interesting that cj wilcher is there. I wonder if he’s heading to queens with I think his brother and Ricky p. Iona got a big from Omaha as well

This is how crazy NIL is. IU paying Ballo from AZ, 1.2 million. Sooo, anyway any mid major can compete? Absolutely ridiculous.

I read an article on the espn app in which an Oregon coach discussed the transfer portal. He said that part of the free transfer process was that the athlete make adequate progress toward a degree. With kids going to 3-4 different schools he said there was no way to adequately determine that. One transfer he said was ok but journeys like Estrada took are hard to assess. He concluded that a degree means nothing(correct in my view now). One other thought that I throw out there for all the legal eagle posters- the transfer issue was litigated b4 the Dartmouth case and that case is nowhere near settled law. So if the athletes are not employees- which they were not at the time of litigation how can a restrictive transfer policy violate anti trust law? Since without employee status how does that policy make the ncaa a combination in restraint of commerce? I can see that on other issues eg the rule making it a violation to accept a bid to another tournament if tendered an ncaa tournament bid- the McGuire rule. But I don’t get the transfer issue. I leave it up to the legal minds here to explain

Figgy, well said. Speaking of employee status. I would assume players receive a 1099 as opposed to a W2. Not that it matters, but I have a sneaky feeling that in a few years that there will be several players having issues. 10 years from now, NCAA gone. Wild wild west with agents and a lot of broke athletes.

I leave it up to the legal minds here to explain degrees were devalued 10 years before the portal lol I get the rest but I think that truly was the beginning of the end. Then the issue became players needing pay because the pros were losing heavy to the cons, guys could make a school millions and get out to drive uber and work part time because the market and degree was oversaturated. I agree with the rest tho, I do also think in like 3 years it will be worked out.
