St. Peter's opens up a 6 point favorite at home tonight.
If TW does not play or is hampered, it's going to require someone (anyone) to make plays off the inevitable pressure Quinny will deploy....either full court or half court. We have no other ball handlers....most of our guys are below average in this regard.
Actually, I hope Quinny does press us full court.....I think Boone and Chazz may be able to make them pay by driving aggressively to the glass. It's our half court offense worrying me more, if TW is compromised.
We have a real chance to go 3-0 this weekend, right the ship and move toward escaping the PIG. Basically, it looks like the Jaspers, Stags and us for two spots.
Doing real damage in the Tourney this year will be very difficult, IMO, but if SPU can finish top 5 and avoid the PIG, it will have been a successful season. Let's hope our guys hit the "re-start" button and come out strong.

I can't be there tonight- pressing family matter popped up. OT tell Gene O'Connell and Bernie McNeilly that I'm sorry but I'll be there Friday vs NU. Need to start winning again vs middle and bottom of league to stay respectable. Can't collapse down stretch would destroy whatever sense of progress was made up to most recent slide

Moore's teams seldom press or trap relying on beating you off the boards and with tough defense , particularly against perimeter shooting . Quadir will have his hands full again as this another team with two bigs who both play a lot and are really big plus the frosh Bundu who is really active on the boards . We have to come out with a lot of energy and do some real good boxing out and gang rebounding to help Q out . Go Peacocks , can't start another streak without getting first one .

Two quick fouls on Welton this half. Now has three with 17 minutes left. Quinny pounding glass; game tied.
Dicey.

Hawkins with three fouls in about six minutes of action. He and Q have three. Quinny cleaning up on the glass these first four minutes.

Stating the painfully obvious, this will be a very hard game to win unless our rebounding improves dramatically.

Good win. Solid game by Portley. Stepped up big time tonight. Q again with a good game if not so much on the scoring end. Boone filled in admirably for TW. Hopefully this is the start of a nice win streak.

We execute, sans Trevis, like a Bobby Knight coached squad in the final 5 minutes to go from up one to winning by 16.
Go figure.
I hope TW gets back soon. Revenge against Niagara should happen Friday, but we'll need Wyche against Canisius and the Jaspers!

At work so couldn't watch the game. Thanks for the updates loyal. Gutsy win without Wyche to start the homestand. Hopefully he can get healthy for Friday night in another "must win" if we have our sights set on top 5.

I was remiss failing to mention how Portley's contribution (20 + points) provided the impetus for tonight's win.
Guess I am taking his contributions somewhat for granted. He is a frosh; now way I should do that. We are lucky to have him.
Chazz hit two big threes. He and Boone contributed about 18-20 points from the SF position. How about that!

Gutsy performance in pressure game . Have to admit that there was point in mid second half where I didn't think our guys could pull it off despite the great effort .
It was simply put , an outstanding performance by Antwon in every aspect of the game . He was absolutely key on both ends . Performance showed that he is still right there with the best of this frosh class despite recent slump . Tonight was a classic effort by him to balance more aggressiveness and more discipline at same time . And I got a kick out the postgame comment in which he complemented Chazz on his monster three and knew that Chazz had made exactly three threes . Quinny threw three guys at Q at center and he was still everywhere for us battling in every way . Just such a pleasure to watch this young man play . I believe it was 36 minutes tonight and still going on the boards and on D and running the court and making the right pass and the right screen to the very end . Oh my !
