Having seen the team play several times in August, I think 6-3 Portley (who will start) and Ndaiye, 6-7 210, (who could start) are better candidates. At best Cameron (6-3 210) is a sub. who can shoot. Cameron would really surprise me. Portley especially can play, both the point and shooting guard and should start opposite Wyche, and sub for Wyche at point guard. He is tall and lanky and can shoot off the dribble and over people. I think he is the best of the freshman and ready to start. Nnamdi is a special athlete who with playing time can be outstanding and can challenge. Oduwu (6-7 219) is no slouch and can also play and get better with playing time. Welton, a beast at 6-8 251, is huge and looks intimidating and when healthy could be the monster that we always expected. Looks like Wilkerson, on the Jets - intimidating & scary and when healthy is better than a 3rd teamer, I believe. Paterson & Boone, look like they improved their outside shooting (3 pt). We will see. Baker is dynamic player who is a very tough & talented guard; can shoot and penetrate and very quick. Scored 22 against Connecticut. Griffen is a very good shooter.

Boone is an interesting situation. Cannot be stopped by anyone, even at higher level, in the open court. However, has been told that both his outside shooting and especially foul shooting need to improve if he is to see playing time. Saw him almost all summer long working on his shooting. Loved his attitude and work ethic. How much will translate into improvement is the open question. Patterson's problem is taking the open look shot when presented...valuable defender.
Agree, regarding Portley and Du. Portley has unlimited upside but needs to put on weight, if only to help stamina. Baker...a diamond in the rough. Q and Trevy are both working hard and are the obvious team leaders. Few realize how much Q was hampered by injuries last year. Hopefully, he is now completely healed... should be 2nd teamer.
We do have guys who can put points on the board.

Surprised to see Khalid Hart on 3rd team. Didn't know Wyche was a G/F. Think as season goes Welton will move up. Maybe Wyche too. Looks like some of the newbies will be able to contribute but as we know the jump from HS to college is demanding. Think we will look better than projected
