A bit puzzling to me as both are point guards with the former at best maybe a combo. Think Fairfield was after Hakim a couple years back with maybe grades an issue. Not sure what happened at So. Alabama that threw him into the JUCO ranks. Little on Portley other than another that is not known as a perimeter shooter. Plus is that he played in one of the power conferences in Texas. Neither has generated much interest from what I could gather.

Galt, believe you are right on Saintil, was playing at So Ala, heard grades issue. Per friend from St Pats, left there with sour grades, then Roselle Catholic and miraculous grade turnaround, hmmmm. All things come out in college. Other recruit, never heard of. Know Saintl Good defender, was thought he and wychw would be the next great backcourt at pats before Boyle left and all the transfers. Downside was not great vision and turnover prone. Would be leery of academics

Antwon Portley is a 6-3 two guard who was listed as the #49 player in Texas. He started at Lancaster HS ranked #3 in state finished with a 34-4 record. Per Texas Hoops he has offers from South Dakota,Northern Arizona,North Texas and Tulane. If he wants the NYC area we could have a shot here.

Saintil played at Williston State JUCO in North Dakota last year. after leaving South Alabama. Has two years of eligibility remaining.
Ranked as a 3 star by Scout.com out of high school. Considered a combo guard or scoring point per the scouting reports.

We certainly have a lot of irons in the fire and it looks like we are targeting some upper tier players. We still need some STRONG JUCO players to make an immediate impact. Getting old and can't wait for another 4 year rebuild program.

newfan......interested in your friend from St. Patrick's. I'm an alumni and played basketball for them on some State and Union County Championship teams in the sixties under iconic coach Buzzy Fox. Maybe I know him.

We offered Cam Jones. Need comment from the Oracle. Why when we have our own Delta Smelt.

We were challenged offensively with Marvin and Desi in the lineup.
Now, we have not one player that needs to be guarded 15 feet away.
Does no one else see unmitigated disaster dead ahead, sans the recruitment of a SG and SF who are ready to contribute (not frosh) shooters?

Unless I am mistaken, only the Texas guard appears to be a pure shooter.
Roselike Catholic combo guard shot very poorly from the field at South Alabama, per box scores from his sophomore season.
