Recruiting season is in full swing. Nothing to report except that Bishop is coming in for a visit this week. The bad news is that he is also being pursued by A-10 teams. Several think that he is at that level. Trust me, recruiting is hard work but the Staff is putting out their usual intense effort...not easy!

We desperately need a minimum of two starters ready to significantly contribute... a shooting guard and a small forward. We also need a backup PF that needs to be at least functional. Short of those three additions, we'll struggle to break 50 and be a PIG team for sure. That assumes Q and Wyche return. Suspect we'll be picked last in the MAAC. Need a miracle recruiting class, or we'll be referring to '14-'15 as the halcyon days.

No more immediately eligible transfers, except for the grad school angle.
Makes an already challenging, "find 2 starters" spring signing period even tougher.

From the MAAC board spcfan said: playerparentcoach said:His name is Mamadou N... graduating from LL's HS ...they love him Thanks. He has some big offers. Do we have a chance? Yes because he doesn't want to wait. He is your number one guy while the others want to see more or he might be behind a couple guys. Your coaches are talking to the right people and he is a perfect fit for the Cocks Read more: maachoops.proboards.com/thread/18361/maac-2015-2016-incoming-outgoing?page=7#ixzz3Vh1od8CH

Saw in today's ledger that Otis Livingston made 1st team all state. Who was our last 1st teamer? Randy Holmes? Kid was so under recruited I think we could have had him with early love. Now maybe we tried and were told no way no how- doesn't mean persistence can't win out- but now I hear that SHU is interested as a hedge vs Gibbs saying adios there. He's as good as Trev with the ball and a better shooter- with lack of players now evident would be a real asset on our roster. This could turn out to be a bad whiff on our part

Livingston made All State 2nd team. Briscoe is the point for the All State 1st team. Check NJ Hoops. May be reason we didn't go after him, size. He is good handler but on court vision not as clean. Size could affect ability to see. Although he and Trevis could make for a decent backcourt, esp ball pressure and speed

All I know is I've seen him and he is a good player. The fact that his team beat Roselle suggests that he was not over matched even by Briscoe. Sorry but this is the type of overall talent upgrade in the depth of the roster which we need to make to be relevant in MAAC year to year and which it seems Iona and Manhattan routinely accomplish. As it stands now, are we not looking at reverting to a sub 10 win level after sniffing a brief modicum of success by barely being mediocre this season? We have done this dance too often before and as I said I don't believe the staff has earned a right to let that happen again, unless SP has decided that this is the best we can expect- to which I say what's the point then

Saw OL play, couple years he is tough, also saw,TW play at St Pats and SPP, both have speed and defensive presence. Saw showcase TW Sr year, SPP vs RC, TW also gave Briscoe a fit, didn't let him muscle through, got him in foul trouble esp frustration fouls. Figgy, this I agree he would be a good get. He and TW would be a solid backcourt, esp under pressure, we know TW solid handling under pressure but with OL there, most teams would not press us, then speed factor. TW in transition great, used to running game, he is hindered by deliberate game. But get him and OL together we could be at upper MAAC tier. I speak a little more of TW only because I have seen him both HS and college level, can't speak on how OL would transition to college. But on the outside looking both together could make good things happen. Too bad we may never see it
