Peacocks 3 point pick. Hope Desi can pick up where he left off Thursday. And that a win can put a cease fire to the bickering.

It is Fairfield so maybe Desi has some more magic in him. Hopefully "It's Déjà Vu all over again"

Against the Hawks Thursday, we had 40 points with four minutes to go. Today, with 4 minutes left, we have 36. Leaky roof syndrome? :

17 points in the second half. Did I hear announcer correctly that Fairfield's best rebounder did not play and another starter also was in street clothes? Plus Stags had lost 10 straight. I hate kicking my own team when they are down, but this was ugly. Can't say anything more...........too upset.

Anybody who watched the game please explain the strategy. For those who keeping asking where is Desi, just evaluate the stagnant offense that is always played. I'll keep saying it, there is a common denominator here.

Fortunately, this team only has three more games to disappoint us in a season that started with realistically high expectations. This program needs some new leadership and a fresh voice. This team has obviously checked out on Dunne. Add to that nine years and a 36% winning percentage. Inexplicable and inexcusable losses like today. It's time for change. It is often said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We have almost a decade of evidence of that. Next year is going to be brutal anyway. If the women's team can find a diamond in the rough like Patty Coyle, certainly the men can. Enough of this Groundhog Day scenario every friggin' year. Just win, baby!

Well watched game, more frustrating to say the least. I might start to agree team has checked out, JD is not getting G anything out of them. I know it is,said the players have to execute but some more accountability has to be had here. Same game plan game in and out, plan not effective, who changes it or maybe they have no other plan than the one being used. All things need change now and then, this season seems to be wrapping itself up. Do wonder like another, other schools when a team is under performing for a length of time, they don't constantly say the players are not execcuting, sooner or later they change the driver of the bus, not saying the current driver is bad, but maybe a new route needs to be driven. And 9 seasons, not even 100 wins. Beginning to wonder if SPU truly cares about the MBB program, if they do, appearances are deceiving. Today MD struggled but always comes back, TW and JF scored some, I must say they tried to attacked, got blocked, but they tried, does anyone else see the guards penetrated and dished and shooters hesitant again, one point TW had to put up a shot in paint because when he drew the defense, he pivots to pass and not one shooter made themselves available for the pass, so I give the guards the ok for effort. Q missed some chippys start of half 4 missed points, E also point blank. TG has been a little silent and turnover prone, as far as DW, yes he was there but when a team plays him, he does not try to create a shot, does not work to get open, he took a couple shots but guess end of game when he realized he won't be high point man he'll fought to get that one shot. He could have been doing it all game. Funny as much as the shooters passed up shots like usual, today no use or try of Hester, even a slasher like Boone. I'll root rest of games till the end, just frustrated as I'm sure others are

^Think that we are all too upset too comment much on today's game. Maybe it's time to look at the "forest" of St. Peter's Athletics. We are dead last in the MAAC Commissioners Cup which allocates point standings based on the performances of both men's and woman's athletic teams. Not only are we dead last in the Commissioners Cup but we are the doormat of the MAAC with our ENTIRE Athletic Program. Last by a significant amount.. Perhaps there is a "common denominator" in all our sports and/or the emphasis and support given to Athletics at St. Peter's. Oh, and yes we have Patty Coyle and I have nothing negative to say about her. I've observed her practices and she is good. But she is 3/24 losing today to a team that had a worse record than us... at home. Yes, I know it's early but I don't envy the position she is in. Point is that there are much bigger issues out there for those of us who support St. Peter's Athletics. It's about time someone ( in authority) woke up and did something about it. As a D1 Program, even in the MAAC Conference we are. often the laughing stock. Reality hursts but we have to face it at some point.

In 48 years of watching Peacock basketball, since the 6th grade, I can't remember being more discouraged about a season.

Just back after a four hour trek in the snow, I've seen other games where players were more tentative and missed more open looks, but I have not seen them come unglued as they did today. After a number of lead changes we seemed to be taking control up 26-20. Bingo,Stags go on an 11-0 run and we collapsed. Early on Desi was moving and hitting his shots scoring 7 in the first quarter of the game. To me it was the inside game that killed us Marvin 2-7 ,Tyler 2-9,O 1-9 !!!We were 7-13 on threes and9-41 on twos most under 10 feet. I see no indication that the team has quit. To the very end they were playing hard but more in the manner of a Chinese fire drill. Give credit to FF though . After ten losses they played like a wounded animal with Malcom Gilbert swatting away Welton shots leaving him dazed and confused. Meanwhile frosh Tyler Nelson was scoring a career high 26 looking like Shane Richards on a good night. Did you notice NU topped Rider in Lawrenceville and Canisius locked down the 5 spot with a win at Quinny ?

Cindy...as you can tell by reading the Board most of us are in a state of shock ( slight exaggeration ). Always good to hear your eyewitness report. It is almost always accurate and balanced. Strike the word almost. Think all of us enjoy your observations.
Taking my cruise tomorrow but will be back for Iona. PS If my post sounds negative on Peacock athletics you know it's only because I want improvement. Meanwhile I'll play the cards that I and the other coaches have been dealt. We'll try our best. I know that my team is working hard. Indoor practice 4 days a week, 2 mile run and some selective weight training. Positive attitude.

We knew Leckie's first two teams would suck. The cupboard was bare. This years team was our once every four year up cycle. Much more disappointing, relative to my expectations.

Only partially recovered from this afternoon's fiasco but since I'm away for a week I took a look at the box score. Turns out that we took 14 more shots than Fairfield!! Cindy seemed to explain part of it but then I went back over the entire Seasons box scores. With very few exceptions we took more attempts ( or equal ) from the field than our opponents in most of games we have played.
Does someone want to take a shot at explaining their take on this? Several explanations possible but I'd like to see the diversity of opinions on this.
