SPU simply beaten by a bigger better opponent. SHU is probably the best team we will see this year- really possible to be in NCAA. Length bothered Desi and Marvin. But big time kudos to Elias and Ty who were really good. I think Q dislocated a finger, but if that is what happened he should be ok for FDU. Marvin seems to be moving away from hoop too much on offense. Needs to diversify. Down 19 I probably would have tried Hester here. Maybe catch a little lightning and he really couldn't hurt as we needed to score at that point. Loved how quick and high Boone got driving down the lane. That sort of quick hops are deadly in MAAC. Need to get next 2 to at least make OOC slate 6-5. Have a winning season in conference and at least there will be some level of success this year. Going from 0-2 to 10-10 isn't that much to ask I hope. If it is then some serious introspection will be required.

Agree on evaluation of the Hall. Too many bullets...very nice inside -outside game. We did manage to hold Whitehead in check. Desi and Marvin both 4-13 was not enough.Ty 5-9 and did a good job helping bring up the ball. I thought E had his best all around game, was less tentative in going to the hoop. 12points on 3-5 and 6-7,with 4 boards,3 assists and a nice block. Jaspers lose by 8 to RU and Quinny loses @ BU by 3. 9 days till 4pm !?! Tuesday afternoon vs FDU when Hawkins joins the party. Time to finish some Christmas shopping.

Well we were pushed hard, we fought, but couldn't overcome. 15 pts, most thought would be a blowout. Hate that refs influence so much, the fouls they got, we didn't get for same situation. You call the fouls, game might been different, might not have won but lose when all's fair. Marv struggled, forced a couple. Tyler did well. Desi gave his, all, hit the fllo, scary for a min. Q finger looked bad, hope will be ok. Boone a spark, needs a little control. Mel ok, struggles with press. Chazz needs to shoot, he took too long thinking about that shot in the corner, bet he makes it if he just pulls it. Trevis good job with press, even getting trapped and got out, couple scoring drives. I managed to ask a inside person why our guards don't keep attacking when they can clearly blow by esp when shots not falling, I was told they are told run the plays period. All around we missed shots we make, but I look at this we played them closer than it looked, a few polishes and I think we should be in MAAC conference condition.

Not much to say, pretty much went according to script. Foggyprez pretty much summed it up. Good job by Wyche handling against the pressure. Disappointing to continue to see little from Q. Perhaps it is the injury. Absolutely no lift and little mobility. Maybe the rumored off season surgery will help. Like Figgy, would have liked to have seen Hester get some exposure against a tough opponent.

Just got home and was ready to hear some negative things posted about this game. Then I read figgy's post and I agreed with it entirely with just one small possible disagreement.
1) We did get beaten by a better team but during some stretches of the game, we played them equal. Reason for hope in the MAAC Conference. Right down the lineup they had the better players. Their point guard is a better player than ours. He passes as well and can shoot the ball. Their #2 ,if that's where Gibbs alternated was better than Desi, and their bigs were much better than ours. Think we played OK, especially defensively.
2) Glad to see some aggressive play by our guys even though the game was statistically over....never quit.
3) Echo figgy's kudos to Elias and Tyler. Elias showed a lot of warrior in him and as we all know he can shoot. A natural #3/#4 with a jump shot ( his father told me that he played a lot of #3 in Junior basketball) Elias needs to stop being a team only player and take a few of those open jumpers. We all know that. As most of us posted last year Elias has excellent upside. Tyler did make a few mistakes but he is beginning to show that he is going to be a key for us in winning the MAAC. Tyler handles the ball with Trevis against the press, always is our inbounder of the ball, drives better than anyone on our team and is an outstanding interior passer. Beautiful looking shot that will only get better with confidence. I really hope that he continues to show that he is our third scoring threat.
4) Without trying to be too negative we need Trevis and Q to step it up. No comment at this point as I want to be positive and not a nay sayer. In Q's case I really hope that it's his pre-season injury which may need medical attention when the Season is over. Q is playing decently, rebounding wise and defensively but I hope his offense improves ( or even shows itself). In the last couple of games, just being honest, he has shown no interior moves plus the inablility to finish. Again, too early to draw conclusions but, thank God, for Elias. Just like Fields is becoming Trevis' equal, Elias is becoming Q's equal...enough said.
5) Regarding Hester, it's now two games where he hasn't played. Figgy explained it best when he talked about Travis' skill set. He is, whether we like it or not a spot up jump shooter. Yet I would agree with anyone who posted that Travis should have seen some action. But the question is who does he take minutes away from? Possibly only Chazz. It's becoming apparent that Tyler belongs on the court. Do you take Desi out given that he was not having a good game? How could you do that given Desi's game against Princeton and his performance last year? Add to that, that Desi could go off at any time. Just don't see where Hester is going to get his minutes. Right now Hester and Boone are backups.
6) Regarding Boone. I agree that his open floor drives were a thing of beauty. And I don't care if he's not a great ( or even good) shooter. The kid can score and has that aggressive mental attitude. BUT I watched him closely for two games now playing man on man defense. Today, on two occasions, he was beaten badly, very badly. As we use to say in the old days " he got caught holding his jock". Boy was he beaten badly. Only a freshman but that's the main area he needs to improve in order to get minutes. Several games ago most of us who sit together thought that Boone would be the eventual starter at #3. Now with Gaskins recent play it's Tyler's job to lose.
7) Marvin, who knows? Even with Desi back he's a marked man. I read suggestion after suggestion but few realize that over a 25 game season, no one can be at his best every game. Maybe we all expect too much. As bad as he performed today, missing a ton of open looks, he still was one of our main contributors. Hard for me to critize him.
Bottom line is that I took some positives out of this game and the Princeton game. Desi is back, Elias is looking better with his increased playing time and Tyler is beginning to emerge as one of our key players. Only unanswered question for me is what is going to happen with Simeon Dennis?

newfan...can't understand what this "inside person" knows or says. Desi attacked the basket relentlessly in the Princeton game and did so, although unsuccessfully today. Trevis made some beautiful drives and Tyler has constantly trying to take his man off the dribble. Now doubt we do try to run plays but anyone suggesting that we haven't attacked the basket hasn't been watching the past two game. Perhaps true in the beginning of the Season as figgy and I had posted ( aggressive play) but given the last two games definitely not true.

Elias is getting more assertive and his overall game is really improving . We have two centers for the next season and two-thirds - almost two full MAAC seasons . That is a big deal in our conference . It was another game where we saw flashes of how good a player Tyler can be. I should say how very good a player he can be . Very few players that go through the MAAC have that athletic jumper that he has ; brings back some happy memories of Wes there . And he can go to the basket . Marvin struggled shooting but I'll take that battling he did for us today anytime . Great effort . Likewise for Desi . Trevis' was just outstanding in getting the ball up court against the press . Willard is doing a lot more of that this year with the athletes that he has . He really wanted to do that today but gave up the idea pretty quickly when Trevis was in the game . But he went back to it as soon as Trevis was off the court , and we fell apart against it . In Trevis' 25 minutes , a very talented SHU team only outscored us by 4 points .
Elisha made some miscues in his few minutes but showed flashes again of how good he can be for us for four years . What Peacock of the last ten years does he remind you most of ? Travis back in the WPP - does this young man do or not do something in practice or in the classroom that ticks JD off ? That is three games now where a 50% shooter - who also knows his way around the court really well for a first year Div One guy - gets zero minutes .
We got beat by a better team today with a little help from the refs . But it should have been a much more competitive game except for the elephant in the room . If JD doesn't work on that crucial weakness in the next two games and in a lot of practices , it will be a waste of a lot of talent fully capable of competing with any MAAC opponent .

Guess that this is what Cindy referred to when he posted a week or so ago that he doesn't mind differences of opinion but does mind uninformed rumors or accusations. Who said or knew that JD was "ticked off " with Travis? That's an unfounded comment posted with unknowledgeable authourity. Maybe Travis should have been given an opportunity, that's a debateable point. But whose minutes was he going to take? Tyler's or Desi's? One can suggest that Hester should/could have seen some action but that's a coaches decision. Because he didn't play therefore JD is ticked off at him? Is JD ticked off at Simeon Dennis also or how about Rolle? Legit to question a coaches tactics but not his motivations UNLESS one knows.
Anyone can have their own opinion and I would not have taken either Desi or Tyler off the court for Hester. Others can disagree. But to assign a coach "ticked off" motivation, without knowledge, is in poor taste. Just an example of what Cindy referred to as uniformed rummors and speculation.
By the way, give JD credit for playing Elias more and more every game...good move. Does that mean that he's ticked off at Q? Or how about Chazz's minutes getting cut. Is JD "ticked off" at him? Why can't we just voice our opinion without being uninformed mind readers? No harm in second guessing a coaches decision but to assign uninformed speculative comments is wrong.

Can't understand how Chazz plays over Travis Hester especially when SHU played a matchup zone in the second half. That's my only criticism . Junction Kid correctly points out that SHU really turned us over when Trevis Wyche was out of the game.Problem is he had 4 fouls so JD had no choice in the second half.
Marvin was overmatched inside and out of sync all day. Desi still a bit of rust on his shot while he works his way back . Really thought Elias played well considering the size of the competition and their athleticism.Nice effort. Q still struggling with no lift. Have to assume its the injury.
I'm anxious to see if Hawkins gets any time when he's eligible against FDU.We could use some help in the rotation inside especially when Marvin struggles and Q has no offense. Could really use some additional inside scoring. Hope JD sees what many here see. Hester must play at least over Chazz

My first Peacock game in 3 years was unfortuantely not a W but there were positive signs from the team and I believe we will continue to improve the rest of the year with Desi back. I really thought we had a chance to win when we cut the lead to 1 in the first half but the Seton Hall's run after that and the 3 at the buzzer were killers. Impressed with Desport's performance today. Nice to see Cindy and Terri, the Donnellys, Dennis, young Alum and his girlfriend Laura. Looks like I will be able to catch more games the rest of the season in my first full year back in Jersey.

Lots of good comments. I agree with a lot except old timer says their point guard better. He is better at shooting, yes, passing I don't think so, our guards esp Trevis can pass and i think he had no turnovers today. Sina really did nothing, Gibbs scored, most, not all of when Trevis was out. Trevis got called for 4th foul and was no where near play, refs snafu. Mel, Trevis, even Tyler do get the ball moved, they gave their different styles, Mel runs offense, Tyler helps on press, Trevis is able to see change, read and adapt. We need another handler esp with Tyler and Mel leaving, no one I see left has what we will need, Dennis I don't know. Would have liked to see Hester get on court, just a try, might not have hurt. I only hope none of these guys will get frustrated and disillusioned. Hard to get recruits in, can't let what we have get away.

spcfan , I like Chazz's play and potential a whole lot so , as much as I want to see Travis on the court , I would not like it to be at the expense of Chazz's minutes . Travis can get more time a lot of other ways . And my opinion is that he can be important to us in more ways than just from his pure shooting abilities - he knows his way around the court . One way to get him more time would be to give him Jamel's minutes . Jamel's last few games have had terrible moments . He can't get the ball up court against a press by a good team . He either loses it himself or gets the player that he is passing it to into a terribly disadvantageous position . In addition , he gets us into bad situations in the half court including losing the ball or getting tied up . And some of his fouls on the defensive end have been horrible decisions , particularly given the game situation at times . I don't think that there is a player on the team that hustles more or wants to win more than Jamel . But he simply can't do what he should be doing anymore . A number of people here question Q's physical limitations right now ( and not without merit given last season ) but it is more apparent to this poster that Jamel is just physically limited compared to his play at FF .
As I have said , I think we are competitive with any team in the MAAC ( though Iona's first five is really talented ) but there are a number of teams in the MAAC that play the full court press and half court trap well and definitely will do it when we are at a disadvantage . Let's get Travis more time and have one of current players move over to back-up point when Trevis needs rest , is not playing well or is in foul trouble . Both can happen . Both need to happen if we are going to have the opportunity in the MAAC that the talent on this team merits .

Hall hot their outside shots and we had no chance once that happened. Too big, strong and tough for SPU.
Q not improving; injury apparently limiting him big time. Too late for medical redshirt; hope it's not a wasted season for him. He's showing guts and looks like he's giving 110%.
Elias looking better. Can Cindy have been right about him? Also Gaskins, who some guy named Loyal said should be benched for Boone, has turned it around the last two games.
Should be competitive this year in the MAAC; it's our year to make hay, with Desi and Marvin. 0-2 start a killer, need to avoid the PIG......not impossible to see a top 4 finish.
