I understand that Elisha Boone has arrived at SPU . I still don't know whether he will be eligible to play in 14-15 . Maybe somebody can help on that .But I'll take the opportunity as a fan to welcome Elisha to the Peacocks and to wish him a happy and productive career at SPU both on and off the court . I will always believe that my stint at St. Peter's was a major part in my success in the business world . We all really look foward to watching you display your talents in the Blue and White for a long time . I believe you will find that your new teammates will be a real good group of guys to compete with and to know .

Elisha Boone will be playing in 14-15 season and don't be surprised if he's starting by years end. Also, don't discount potential contributions from Simeon Dennis and Travis Hester.....both can light it up from 3 point range.

Move in day is today although most of the bb players are already on campus. Physicals either have or are being taken for all sports and the mandatory Compliance meeting for all athletes and coaches is Thursday. The Golf Team travels to the Turning Stone Resort in Upstate NY to play in the Univ. of Missouri Tournament over Labor Day Weekend. Team looks very strong but still looking for that important 5th man.
Have not been at school very much this past Summer but looking forward to viewing some pick-up games in Sept....will report what I see and who's there.

Thanks for that very good news , eport . Once Hawkins comes available after the first semester no MAAC team should be deeper for the heart of the MAAC season . The battle for minutes at the two/three slot should be particularly heated . If Desi is at 30 minutes or so that leaves Ty , Chazz , Elisha , Simeon and Travis competing for 50 or so . You have to hope that this team adopts the all for one , one for all attitude . We probably all have differing opinions about who will be the four players at the bottom in terms of minutes when the dust settles about midseason , but I think most of us longtime Peacock fans have probably seen a number of SPU teams since '95 where all four of those guys would have been starters .

Don't think JD really knows what his rotation is either. Think he feels that practice and the first third or so of the Season will sort things out... he's quite flexible and open minded. Players have to prove themselves. Look how Rolle went from zero minutes to being a factor later in the Season.
One other point, junctionkid mentioned Chazz. Chazz to me by us fans may well be the forgotten factor. One of our best defensive players of the last decade or so, I give Chazz credit for accepting redshirting last year. Saw him at several team practices and he is a physical specimin, although wirery, with an intensive attitude. Will be watching him pre-season. If his offense has developed Chazz is definitely the defensive stopper against an offensive scorer that, quite honestly, Desi and Wyche ( although not bad) are not.

Elisha Boone will be at the 3 position.....can put it on the floor and finishes with authority. He will more than make up for the loss of Burke. Maybe not next year, yet possible, but definitely down the road. Has nice jump shot, sees the floor well and takes pride in hitting the open man. He's a Dunne kind of guy who is all team and plays solid defense.....not a bad handle, but room for improvement.....physical specimen with great upside.

Forgot to say, I can't remember a SPU team with this much depth. I remember the days when we went 7 deep and than there was a huge drop off. Now we have the luxury of figuring out a rotation of 8-10 and I'm sure it will change numerous times by MAAC Tournament time. Look how Gaskins and especially Rolle really put it together at the end of last year and they are still in the mix. Rolle is "Charlie Hustle" and a bundle of energy off the bench. Also, a good rebounder and shot blocker for his height. Hope he worked on his offensive game over the summer.

If you remember we had a debate about Chazz two seasons ago. I maintained that he was also a potential back up point, where we were deficient, which was disputed. To this day he remains a potential point backup to Trev despite the presence of Fields.

Chazz brings potential to be a late game defensive stopper to the table. Given our guard "D" was average, at best, last season, this skill set could be quite valuable.
I did not garner the impression in '12-'13 Chazz had a great handle....in fact I would classify it as quite average, at best. I hope you guys are right and I am mistaken about Chazz handle. He did exhibit fleeting glimpses of being able to pass well, along with great athleticism. I'd say he showed he is more athlete than bball player, but hope I am wrong.
If Chazz worked hard at improving his shooting and handle during the past year, he certainly has a good upside!
We'll need someone to check Williams from Iona and the OK kid at Quinny in late game situations, for sure.

Peacock...don't remember any debate you had with me about Chazz. Must have been someone else. I could be wrong but I don't see Chazz as a point guard....more likely a #2 or #3. Yet, I am concerned about our ball handling under pressure. Wyche is fine but except at games end, when he makes everything at the foul line, Desi is not who I want handling the ball. Fields should be the backup. Also remember that one of the ways JD breaks pressure is to have his #3 man involved. That was Chris Burke and before him Ryan Bacon. So yes, if Chazz plays #3 or Boone is eligible look for help from those guys.
Loyal is right. Basically the MAAC is a guards league and Dunne has always had a defensive stopper. That's the role I see Chazz playing. If he has improved offensively, then we could have a starter. Too early to tell about any of this but it would be nice to have a guy like Yuvon or Chris Burke to shut down or harass oponents who are scorers.

Kidding aside, EB has potential to create AND score off the dribble.....a skill set in short supply on this roster, based on last years past performances.
HS to D 1 is obviously a huge adjustment, but EB should be able to help improve the offense from the SF spot, at least a bit, this season.

Always enjoy the knee jerk response from someone who cars only about him being right. Keep up the good work, you might actually say something positive about a player.
