Not one to speculation on how our team will do this year so I remain cautiously optimistic. However, I am interested in what the other Coaches in the league think of our Team and players, so I'll make some very conservative guesses. While I think Dominique should be a no brainer to be 1st. Team All-MAAC I'll guess that he'll be voted 2nd Team. Desi, IMO is marginal 2nd Team but likely 3rd Team. As for the Team I'll guess we're voted #4. Any opinions?
And yes, all this pre-season stuff means little when the Season begins but I am interested in what other coaches ( not delusional fans on other sites) think. We'll know in just a few months.

Word is Quadir has bulked up big time. Boone status still uncertain. Princeton will visit us.

Also Hartford away and BU away appear on the schedule this year.Due to the Barclays being an exempt tournament we play 11 out of conference games this year.

Very good news re: "Q". Club will need him to come up big on the glass this season.

New SPU building approved by JC Planning Board last night. 21 stories, dorms, market rate rentals, movie theaters, restaurants, retail space and parking.
Should be a big boost for SPU and area. Target completion late 2016 or early 2017.
Will it have big impact in recruiting?

No doubt the new building will help recruiting. Living in a high rise dorm over looking the NYC skyline could be very enticing to a new recruit. Hope we use the new building wisely and in that manner. Still think a new Yanitelli Center would be more productive in terms of recruiting.

New Yanitelli Center probably not feasible, but would hope for major refurbishment. 2015 strategic plan had aim of advancing the Division's 1 athletics program. The new strategic plan, to be approved by the Board of Trustees in early 2015, needs not only to continue this as a goal but also provide for the needed investment to support the goal.

The building you speak of is going to be built on land to be donated to the project by SPU. Will be built on the area currently used as a parking lot on Montgomery next to the Armory and is part of the city's initiative to clean up McGinely Square. In return for use of the land given by SPU we get a few floors of dorms and get to share in the rental income from the commercial rentals. It's a decent cash cow for the college we get use of a new building and some rental income without any build costs.
Doesn't really affect the Yanitelli situation.I'm told a delegation from SPU visited the campus of Monmouth and Quinnipiac to look at the facilities there and basically came away feeling we can't afford something that size.
More realistic is something along the lines of the LIU facility approx 2k seating.

Big question remains do we build a new facility or go ahead with a Yanitelli makeover. If you go the make over route we need a place to play our games not to mention a student rec facility for at least a year possibly more during the construction.
To me best solution is still a new facility on a smaller scale ala LIU.In any event nothing on the horizon yet.

I believe a new facility is a must if we are to continue competing for recruits against the likes of Monmouth. Not sure of other MAAC facilities, but Monmouth is very nice and even if we can't afford the same, something in the ballpark will be necessary. Even then, their campus and location are 2 other pluses for them. High schools in Ocean County have facilities better than Yanitelli.

During the recent survey, I stated a facility like Monmouth's or even St. Joe's Philly was what we needed to strive for and achieve. I hope our survey responses do not fall on deaf ears.
