Surprised no one asking about any info on Boone or if there is any info about Q Smith.

Ok I'll bite.
No news likely on Boone until August (unless bad). Smith all blow with questionable academics.

While Hawkins, Boone (if he plays) and the two JC shooters can help........
.....how far SPU goes this season, IMO, will be primarily determined by how much Wyche and Q improve. Can Wyche find a way the become a bit of a perimeter threat? Can Q get stronger and board better and develop any moves on offense?
We know what Desi and Marvin are. The expected "freshman to sophomore" jump will be a key component of whether or not SPU will legitimately contend for the MAAC Title in March.

Probably should have its own thread, but here is some current '15 recruitment news.
As has been reported elsewhere, 6-4 SG Antwon Lillard of Cleveland Central Catholic is visiting today. Word is that we had hoped to have teammate, 6-8 Center, Montell McCrae accompany him on the trip. Don't think this has happened. Both have received offers from us as well as other mid-majors. Additional comfort. Both 2-2.5 star athletes will undoubtedly predict, with Lillard currently carrying a 3.6 GPA.

Think Q improving everyday. Hope coaches doing post and boardwork with him. Wyche is a solid point SPU get shooters he can deliver the ball. Does need to work on perimeter shot coaches should know this and be providing the extra shotwork on it. These guys held their own as frosh did better than expected. Marvin is Marvin. Desi we need consistency. We fans see it hope the coaches see it. Think the players will do their work

I'll let the guru explain it all, but some strange handling of things on Verbal Commits. Dennis who was listed previously on their site under juniors was removed. But they posted a link from ESPN dated 6/22 that he committed to SPU. In addition they also posted a commit from Boone dated 6/22. Also Boone was deleted from their chart under freshman Now we have knowledge that Boone took SAT in May. It could be surmised that he took it also in June. Could be the ESPN changes are good news. I do not know anything about Boone, but Dennis just finished up his final exams for his degree this week at his juco. He obviously would have need his degree so the acceptance could not be confirmed. I say this as the other juco, Hester is at the school now.
Regarding Q Smith. About 4 or 5 days after he announced he had his school choices down to 5, including SPU, he had some bad news. No real indication what it was, although some involved a girl. Some of the schools on his list did fill that spot. For us he could easily fit the model set by Leon, Tucker and others. Only the insiders know.

Rumor has it there were some "communication" issues with Dennis. That apparently has been resolved. As for Boone, it has already been mentioned that nothing will likely be learned for some time. Smith has more issues and carries less credibility than Lois Lerner. Only an Iona should welcome this kid's profile.

Assuming blogger has captured John's words and sentiments correctly, does appear there is cause for optimism. Phone interviews are sometimes dubious, as mention of Hawkin's height at 6'8".

Still needs to clear Admissions and apparently ruling by NCAA regarding scholarship. Pessimism prevails, otherwise we would be looking for him on the hardwood at Yanitelli rather than the asphalt in Jamaica.

I think JD's detailed comments about Boone taking Burke's spot would have been offered up to the interviewer only if JD felt Boone would be able to play this season.
Anyway, guess we'll know for sure in a month or so.

Still needs to clear Admissions and apparently ruling by NCAA regarding scholarship. Pessimism prevails, otherwise we would be looking for him on the hardwood at Yanitelli rather than the asphalt in Jamaica. For someone who swore he had no contacts inside at the school, you certainly seem to have great knowledge. But lets be clear, you have no clue how to read an instagram as the post was about Sunday where I doubt he would be at Yanitelli. In fact I assume from the way you post, you are up at Yanitelli everyday making those observations. Considering your intimate knowledge of the inside operations, one might think you should write a blog about SPU, although you blew it about Dennis. .
